No Bill, Im not tired of your questions. I kinda wish people asked more questions. Lol. Yes the batarang is 3 layers of .030 styrene sheets, then a layer added to each side to give it its some what 3D effect. As for the buckle after I glued all the layers of just the outline of the buckle together, then heated it. Remember to let it completly cool while in the position you want it to stay in.

I picked some up and started working with it. Great recommendation. I'm working on a buckle for my 10 cartridge belt first. I used 3 pieces of .040 styrene and it might be little thick. Its an amalgamation of the Justice league belt buckle, the cartoon one in Young Justice and my first foamie buckle. Not sure about it yet, but I'll post up later.

 :hijack

Maybe I'll start a thread, but I thought I'd share with you my progress so far -- thanks to your help.

Not satisfied with what I found on ebay, I thought I'd build from scratch. I've had an idea in my mind, but was never sure if I would like the execution. Like I said, it was really a mixture of ideas:

--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

So I picked up some styrene, mostly .040 and got to work. After cutting, glueing and sanding, it started to take shape. Again the idea was to have something with a proportion that fit the belt gap. The three sections still need to be glued together. The base is 3 layers of .040. The middle section is 2 layers, with the surface layer having a grooved texture that you can't see in the pic. I hope to give it an etched look that will helpt set it off. Then the bat is 1 layer of thin .020, but it is smooth like the base.

--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--
--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

And here it is lying on the belt along the gap in the back. This way, I don't have to place it over the actual buckle which makes it protrude too far. I'll just buckle it in the back. My plan is to paint it in a metallic color, probably similar to the Adam West or Justice League belt. The yellow buckle never looks right on this style of belt. After I shape it a little and paint it, I'll begin working on that all yellow belt...

Best thing about this board. Always great ideas floating around! And I have to second Lewis -- that is an awesome homemade belt. One which I plan to replicate of course!

I hear you. Same situation here, but with a 5 year old instead of a 3. I don't play out as often as you, but I have a show this weekend, and another coming up soon after that. It is that time of year... Good luck on the build when you get to it.

Bigbat23, I gave up on shaping the buckle for two reasons. The place I'm attaching it doesn't lend itself well to being curved. It looks like it will sit better with a flat surface. Also, After I glued the 3 sheet base, 2 sheet middle section and the bat, it becamse too darned thick! Looks good, but a bugger to bend. So, it is assembled and sanded. Now to find a quality copper/chrome paint.

Well I got my trunks today in the mail. I didnt order the ones from eastbay because they only have navy blue. So I did a little search and found some royal blue ones. Problem is IMO I think they are a bit baggy. If you guys agree I think Ill just take em in a bit.

They're a touch baggy, but the color is excellent - and the bagginess isn't really a problem.

The color is terrific. A bit baggy maybe, but I wouldn't waste time fixing them unless you really don't like the look or the fix is a simple one. I think they work as is. And damn I still love the belt you made!

Small update. Funds are a bit low at the moment so that equals slow progress. My fins. Just a simple styrene and foamies set up. I will be ordering my gloves next week from Warmen gloves.
--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--
I got my new compression mock top couple of days ago from eastbay. Dont wanna put the logo on permanent yet til I get my 14 panel, hooded cape done.
--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--
And here is my armature wip. I finally got the wife to do it. I hate doing life
cast. Reminds me of how funny my
head is shaped. I still need to fill it with
expanding foam and seal it with shelac.

The plan is to sculpt a neckless cowl. With all the talented guys around here I feel confident that if I runinto any problems I have you guys to help out. It wont be my first sculpt but it will be my first mold making experience.

Are those fins painted, or is that the natural color? Just curious because they don't look painted.

And 14 panels? Seriously? That thing is going to be a monster! Still loving the updates.

Nope they are not painted. But they will be sealed then painted along with the glove so they match perfect.

Yeah 14. But its a bit deceving. After I got the pattern for the standard 8 panel cape all drew out I folded one in half.
So they are just smaller panels with
deeper scallops. When I whip that thing around I want it to look like in my avatar. Plus I want it to fully close. It was gonna be 16. Lol.
