Re: The 'Holy Grail' of BATcowls
It's the material bud, it's perfect for the job ... the basic form of the cowl is taken from a baseball cap I've got that is sewn in parts that follows the contours of the head and then the stretch of the material allows it to form over the head even more.
Have you posted any pics on here of what you're producing?

Re: The 'Holy Grail' of BATcowls
Update time...
Been able to do quite a bit the past few days so here's a few update pics.
The eyes are cut, but not 100% happy with them, although once the whites are in, they don't look too bad, but I already have a plan to make them look more "ANGRY"!
The collar to the cowl is on and as you can see in the pictures, is pinned in place on the cape ...
This will be changing as I've been staring at BAT's over the last few days and think the front needs narrowing on the shoulders and made higher at the front, so that the chest logo is more in view when the cape is open.
So over this weekend the cowl will hopefully become fully part of the cape!.
Cheers BATfans!

Re: The 'Holy Grail' of BATcowls
Speaking from experience here, Yes, you'll want to pull that neckline up more. And to balance the design, the shoulders as well. The issue with the neckline being so low is that when you throw the cape back over your shoulders, the entire front will want to roll up in front like a window blind because the material is trying to clear the shoulders and once it gets even with the material on the shoulders it will all want to pull back against itself and roll. And if you throw the entire cape back past your shoulder line and down you back, it'll roll and choke the heck out of you.
I'm really digging the design work on this. What did you do for the sub-structure in the ears to keep them stable? Can't wait to see it finished and suited up for us. :up
