After a bunch of worrying I decided to mount my afterburner with some good old steel

I figured it was better to over build it than to have my afterburner end up laying on some highway emoticon

Thanks for the kind words :cheers

I spent a little time today to finish up the remaining two inserts for the exhaust tips. They turned out pretty good.

One is a little crooked but I'm sure I'll be the only one in the world to notice it emoticon

I finished some more odds and ends today. It's funny when I think to myself "this isn't very exciting" but then realize it all has to get done!

A little bit of exhaust work, trimming, and a start on my electronics rack.

Another good afternoon spent in the garage! The exhaust Y-Pipes have now been fabricated which gets me one step closer to bolting them on.

I usually get quite a few questions around where exactly I build the BatBerry. A lot of people think I have a dedicated shop where I work on the car.

Most people are pretty surprised when they hear that I work on it right out of my standard attached two car garage.

To dispel the myths and rumors I figured I would post a little inside tour of the BatCave

Gotta have some fun by cutting a hole in the trunk!

Don't worry it was a planned necessary evil that had to be done. I made some good progress on the trunk latching mechanism today

I made my first attempt at the trunk latch mechanism. The result of the first attempt... not so good :(

But the experience gave me more ideas of how to solve the problem emoticon

I built up some jack-points so that I can actually raise the car and work on it.

One of the tricky parts about this car is that the body overlaps the frame in ways that makes it really tough to get a floor jack under the car. So I decided I would make some accessible jack points to raise it up.

the photo in the garage is awesome. my dad raced vintage cars my entire life, so our garage always had some sort of project going on--just not a Batmobile. haha it looks like you don't have clearance to close the door. is that just the angle of the picture or what?

Yesterday was a bit of trial and error, but I think I have a plan going forward. The tricky part is finding a good way to support the weight of the big/heavy/clunky exhaust tips.

My theory is that the rear of the exhaust tips will be supported by the hangers of the actual exhaust, but the heavy end-weighted tips need a good solid mounting point.

That's just an optical illusion.. but the reason the hood is hoisted to the ceiling is that I don't have enough room to close the door with the hood on the car... yet emoticon

It did come with a few challenges today, but with a bit of perseverance everything turned out just right emoticon

Will the exhaust tips bounce against the body on Gotham's bumpy roads? You have a lot more weight to add yet so there will be a little less clearance.

haha, iam also jealous! brce, if the exhauspipes/tips are there just for decoration (i assume), where does the actual (real) exhaustpipes end? i saw some batmobiles on youtube, and the manufacturers used sidepipes hidden within the technical knickknacks infront of the big airintakes!

Nope, after finishing the connection points and the "Tetris" like fitting I can stand on the exhaust tips and also jack the car up with them if I really wanted emoticon

They are as solid as a rock! I needed a good solid point because you're correct, they are very end weighted with those big "orbs" on the end.

I was also able to complete my adjustable hood supports this weekend. This should allow me to dial-in the surface where the cabin meets the hood.

I just need to add a rubber bumper onto the top of the bolt emoticon

Thanks! I'm trying my best to be patient and take my time.

I know when I've built projects before and there was that one thing where I said "ah the heck with it, this is good enough" and then every time I looked at it I saw that flaw and wished that I would have took the time to fix it :geez
