Yeah, I picked-up a shotgun mic for my GoPro so we should be able to record some pretty good sound from the exhaust emoticon

I spent most of my afternoon staring at the problem trying to figure out how I would get something behind the section of the body to support the side mechanics and stiffen up the body.

But I think I came up with a winner emoticon

Yesterday I finished the passenger side mounting plate for the side-mechanics. The car looked pretty cool all up on its side to do the work. It kinda looked like it was flying through the air emoticon
Slowly but steadily I'm knocking off the TODO list items one-by-one.

I finished up the front flanges of the cockpit today. These are important to:

(1) Make sure water doesn't get into the car

(2) Provides a spot to connect the front of the cockipt body to the chassis

i can only imagine how hard thias part must be! i mean while closed it must be perfectly sealed! but then there must be enought clearence to work properly! oh boy, i can imagine how frustating this type of work must be! i mean a lot of try and error with only minor changes in between until it works! and all this with the rest of the build in mind! emoticon
but the result looks good so far! do i see light shining through the lid?

Yeah the lid still all needs to be adjusted. I'll be fastening the body to the chassis permanently very soon and then I'll start shaping the lid to fit emoticon

I spent a good 6 hours or so today preparing the cabin walls so that they're ready to be permanently sealed to the chassis.

Fiberglass work is always stinky and dusty, but it's a necessary evil of the build emoticon

A good way to end a great Father's day! Today I was able to finish up the cabin walls so that they're now painted and ready for final installation.

Now I just need to get that chassis ready so that we can get these secured into their final home emoticon

I spent today fiberglassing the frame of the canopy. It's always some stinky and sticky work

Hopefully tomorrow I can finish the rest of the structural canopy work.

That was one stinky weekend and a lot of work. But now I have a really great foundation for the Canopy.

Next I'll have to beef up the arms for the rear wheels and start to think about mounting my rear view monitors and over-head switch panel.

We finished off some more chassis preparation today. I'm really happy with the pace of progress that we're making.

It was a bunch of fabrication work today, and hopefully we'll be re-installing some of the cabin walls soon emoticon

Another great day of progress. I figured I would do two posts tonight since the two main topics are fairly different.

This is the first of the two where we finally figured out all of our fuel fittings, and finished the tank mounting fabrication

After a bunch of priming, painting, wrenching and seam sealing we managed to re-install the cabin walls!

After a TON of work today we sweated out some great progress and the body is now back on the car!

There were lots of different projects today such as painting the frame, creating some mesh inserts, fiberglassing porthole window frames, and installing the fuel tank

There were both a few failures and successes today while working on the car.

The bad news is that the linear actuators to help with raising/lowering the hood didn't work out.

The good news is that I'll be reusing two of them to open/close the clay pigeon shooter doors emoticon

Giddy-up!! I'll be heading to Hollywood in August to go on the Warner Brothers VIP tour for their 75 years of Batman exhibit. Oh, and ssshhhh.... I haven't told my 8yr old daughter yet that she will be coming with me, it's a surprise emoticon

I've also been talking with the infamous "]Matt Munson and hopefully we'll get a chance to connect and check out his build of the MattMobile while we're there too!

I think I'm going to do some beefing up of the canopy arms to better support the new weight of the embedded steel frame.

The picture below shows the slider arm in the actual Batmobile which shows just how sturdy it is.

I was hoping to work on the linear actuators for the bat-disc doors today but it doesn't look like the 18" throw actuators I have are going to work.

Instead I was able to accomplish some fiberglass fabrication today emoticon

'We' could make that into a functional disc/sawblade launcher using a 35lb spring and some scrap angle iron.
Same amount of work as fitting fake apparatus.

EDIT.

First person at a car show to say they've seen better would get a clay in the teeth though.

Thanks Ed!

I'm looking forward to your shipment arriving emoticon

I have one resin bat-disc, and had ordered 5 other ones from another guy on ebay. I received them a while ago but didn't open the box. Turns out they are made out of plaster and are crazy heavy :(

So I'll be trying to figure out a way to get my hands on some more resin discs.

Yesterday I had a nice surprise in my mailbox when I got home from work. There was a box full of wheel bats emoticon

These are made out of solid resin by our very own Ed Ferrell. He generously offered to make me a set of these from molds pulled off of the actual Batmobile. Well now they have arrived and they are AWESOME!

Thanks again Ed, these are absolutely fantastic emoticon
