Beware Jester Fx

*POSTED WITH BRIN'S PERMISSION*

3 months ago I sent Justin Jotso, aka Jester Fx, aka JPFX on Etsy a Rocketeer Flash cowl to paint and he ripped it making it unwearable. He offered to patch it so I could at least use it for a display piece along with one of his Zoom cowls as compensation. After 2 months of excuses and no package he just stopped responding to messages, emails and phone calls. I did some digging, talked to some of his other unsatisfied customers, who were not hard to find and determined that this is his m.o. Now I'm out $300 for the cowl and can't file a claim since no ***** changed hands but I will be filing a consumer complaint with the MD Attorney General and the BBB who already have complaints on file for his company.

There is also a possibility that he ripped the cowl while casting it. Two months after he told me a pic appeared on his page of an almost identical cowl.

So my advice if you decide to do business with Justin is to only use Paypal and insist that he insure the package. If you don't receive your merchandise within the 45 day limit make sure you file a claim.

I read that on the rpf.
The original artist who made the cowl flash claims jfx recanted his work.
At least that is said in the post.

I think that's quite possible.

Here's the ripped cowl pic he sent me...

And here's his "updated" cowl which he posted a month later...

Hmmmm, most cowls are sculpted over head casts or armatures at least. There is no protrusion on the mouth area in the above picture, which to me suggest the cast was made from a cowl with those areas filled in, rather than cast over a positive head cast.

Sorry you've had to deal with that. He's not the only one who frequents, or used, this board who is unreliable with respect to trades. Lessons learned.

Wish I could say I didn't see this coming,,,, years ago.
Every time one of these jokers pops up saying they have the best of the best and you can see them buying up molds and such they eventually (and it doesn't take that long) fall short on their customers and then play keyboard commando or just drop off the face of the earth and stop responding to requests for updates etc.
I've been here since 2001 and I can probably name more than 10 of these internet crooks that make a bunch of noise when they first show up then disappear with peoples hard earned "investment".
