The pieces I have left now, while not as cool as the batcowls or as valuable they’re made of aluminum and what not and will last a lifetime. A lot less stressful to not have to worry as much. I know Tony, I never thought I would either but I'll adress this again at the end of this post. The relief I got from letting the other cowls go and the fact that the overall condition of the Panther (while good for what it is) was far worse off compared to the other ones. I felt it was the best time to do it now. If I kept it, I would probably only have kept it for another year and who knows how the market will be then. Batman stuff sold like butter this year. I actually could have gotten a lot more for the Panther cowl but I didn't want to ship it overseas for its own sake and I was far happier to see it end up with the same owner who had bought a few other cowls from me and who knows how to take care of foam latex properly. I basically said no to thousands of dollars to ensure the cowl last as long as possible without having to undergo any preservation work. :lol At the end of the day. I love the Panther cowl for it's looks, not whether it was used in the film or not. The reason I started collecting original cowls in the first place was because no replica at the time (even if it's cast from the batshop molds) looked like its on screen counterpart. The only way to replicate the on screen look as close as possible is to mold a screen used foam latex cowl and that is what I will replace it with eventually. I will never count myself out from getting another original Panther cowl in the future though. But it would have to be in great condition. I know a collector who has a production made one, never used but basically in brand new condition. That one would be perfect for me. :)nondisclosed_email@example.com (Proximo)Sat, 26 Nov 2016 13:42:46 +0000 Re: Original Clooney / OnStar Batman Gloveshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2343673,from=rss#post2343673https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2343673,from=rss#post2343673Thanks for sharing the story. I just didn't think you would EVER sell the Panther cowl. -Tonynondisclosed_email@example.com (thuth)Tue, 22 Nov 2016 19:02:37 +0000 Re: Original Clooney / OnStar Batman Gloveshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2343601,from=rss#post2343601https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2343601,from=rss#post2343601I definitely understand where you're coming from Markus. I've passed a few higher end items out of my collection over the last few years for fear that they would deteriorate in my place and become of no value. So what I've done is pass the higher end things on and maintaining the lesser value items (still good stuff) that keeps my cave top notch but if things get destroyed at least they aren't the more expensive things. And I've been able to put my recouped money back into my pockets :wink nondisclosed_email@example.com (efarrell4)Mon, 07 Nov 2016 18:53:04 +0000 Re: Original Clooney / OnStar Batman Gloveshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2343595,from=rss#post2343595https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2343595,from=rss#post2343595Quote:thuth wrote: What?!!   Hehe yeah, it’s a long story so here is the summary. :lol Basically my interest and priorities has changed a lot the past 3 years since getting my life back on track. I’ve been on the fence of selling many times during that period (constantly asked to sell by collectors) because I could use the money for more important things than expensive fragile pieces of art that I was constantly paranoid of owning even though I loved them. In the early days I didn’t care because I loved them so much and would’ve kept them until they turn to dust, but as reality and life catches up I realize that is not realistic or smart to do. After selling the Ice and Sonar cowl in late 2015 / early 2016 I felt a big relief which told me it was the right time to do it. I kept the Clooney and Panther cowl since they were still my favorites but early 2016 were very eventful for me, both good and bad. I sold off the Clooney cowl (and gloves) over the summer when I moved to my own place and after that I didn’t have the same feelings for the Panther cowl as I did before. It’s hard to describe but I guess the relief I got from letting go of the other cowls told me it was time to let it go as well even though it’s my favorite. I also wanted a new car which pushed me over the edge. :wink I haven’t given up on collecting though. I will get a replica Panther cowl when I find one good enough and I still have some cool stuff from my favorite film, Gladiator as well as BvS that can take more of a beating and that doesn’t take up a whole room. While it’s bittersweet, I don’t regret this at all. I have tons and tons of pictures of the pieces I have owned over the years and I have to pinch myself that I’ve had the honor to have been the caretaker of such amazing pieces. In the future when I’m completely finished with my studies I will most likely try to get my hands on a screen used Panther cowl again.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Proximo)Sat, 05 Nov 2016 19:10:59 +0000 Re: Original Clooney / OnStar Batman Gloveshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2343382,from=rss#post2343382https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2343382,from=rss#post2343382What?!!   nondisclosed_email@example.com (thuth)Wed, 12 Oct 2016 12:27:26 +0000 Re: Original Clooney / OnStar Batman Gloveshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2343228,from=rss#post2343228https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2343228,from=rss#post2343228No problem. I loved the story too, main reason why I got them. However, I have sold off most of my collection this year and ended up selling these gloves with the Clooney cowl a few months ago. I'm currently selling off the last cowl in my collection (the Panther cowl) that I never thought I'd part with but will replace with a good replica cowl when I find a suitable replacement. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Proximo)Thu, 29 Sep 2016 18:18:46 +0000 Re: Original Clooney / OnStar Batman Gloveshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2342964,from=rss#post2342964https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2342964,from=rss#post2342964Those are awesome Markus and such great story. Figured I'd share it here too, and goes well together with Tony's post. :) This is a pair of original Batman gloves worn by George Clooney, they are marked Clooney 3 on the inside as well as A.D. Now comes the unique part. A.D. stands for Alex Daniels who was George Clooney’s stunt double in the film. His name is present in the gloves because during the production of Batman & Robin the OnStar commercials were filmed simultaneously and this pair of gloves were sent to that set to be used by Alex. Alex did all the non-talking & stunt parts for those commercials. The gloves were repainted for OnStar in the same blue black as used on the Sonar Ice suits which is why it’s a darker blue than the regular Clooney blue. I was told by the crewmember these were gifted to after filming that they were never used for filming in OnStar because they were too small for Alex. But they got the OnStar blue and I love that. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Proximo)Wed, 02 Mar 2016 17:04:38 +0000
