This ain't gonna be very popular with some, but...
So, I think it's pretty safe to bet on the fact that this move to Facebook is probably because there's been such a huge drop in members who actually join, belong to or come to this board anymore. I believe a HUGE and most likely the major underlying cause of that drop off is because MANY (most) times when someone new came snooping around here trying to figure out if this was the place for them or God forsake mentioned the fact or made their first post about b.u.y.i.n.g a costume, that they received so much backlash & disdain from so many brothers on here who basically just attacked these poor guys, that this kind of total crap just scared off too many people who just couldn't hightail it outta here fast enough!
It's funny because I myself originally came here for that exact same reason in 2008, but low and behold find myself here 7 1/2 years later! Maybe if you would've had a little more patience with these guys, we'd have a LOT more members! 'cause I tell ya what, if I'd been treated in 2008 like the poor schlubs that came here and got bullied from a bunch of A'holes, I wouldn't of stuck around here either. And come on, people who are on other boards similar to this one (IE. RPF) must have talked about all the B.S. that was going on here. And how many people did that scare off? I seriously wouldn't doubt whatsoever if this place has a crappy reputation because of all that B.S!
And how many times have you read this over the years, "Hey Guys, I'm new here. I love Batman and am looking for a suit. Can anyone help me to find one?"
And then got this answer: "eBay!"
So, if your one of the A'holes out there that treated people like that in the past and are now pissed about this Facebook situation, well...I guess you brought it upon yourself and everyone else who actually really loves this place! So, hey, Thanks a lot!
P.S. Won't see ya over at Facebook? Darn, really gonna miss ya!

Dear Rob, I know you are a good guy and I know the love you have for the hobby, so I assume that you words are meant to be some kind of positive criticism. I also know that the board has special rules for the trading section. On this board the members can be anonymous and therefor a new member did not had to identify himself. As you know most of the items traded here are non-licensed items, that is an open secret, and the new members that are looking to get such items (illegally) just expect to get help from the pirates (yes, trading un-licensed items is forbidden, even owning them is forbidden) So to say I was one of the people who told the new members who did not followed the trading rules to visit ebay because of 2 reasons: 1. its illegal to handle un-licensed stuff. 2. Most of the people trading such items use ebay!I ask you to respect that kind of self protection that the artists who produced the needed items have, it enables people like you to have fantastic costumes. Facebook is one of several social networks that is built around spying software to know everything about the users, the data is stored in the USA and there is no protection of your privacy, and Facebook can delete your account at any time, ESPECIALLY when you buy, trade, or sell un-licensed items because that is a crime! AND that is the reason that the two most important words in this trading section are just changed into STARS!I know that my comments makes you look like a Hypocrite, but so am I!No risk, no fun (means no screen accurate costume!!

Thanks for the comments Red! I know where you're coming from as well! The real issue I have is that there's a right way and a wrong way to treat people. There were many patient and helpful people on this board that treated the newbies with respect. I believe you were one of them. Then there were (many) that treated them down right nasty as if they were better than these guys that were basically interested in the same thing...Batman! And if you're going to be honest (and I know you are), you just can't deny the negative impact it's had on this board. I also agree that there needs to be rules and protection of goods, but the "Go to eBay!" IMO wasn't the correct way to respond to an inquiry. That's basically the same (again IMO) as saying, "Go away!", so that's what most did. And to me, that's really a shame! It drove the newbies away and it drove many an avid Batman fan away. It just did! Hey, I didn't post a whole bunch but I was here almost every day and as you know and pointed out, I just love this silly hobby...and I'll miss this board. I'm also not a real huge Facebook fan either but I'll head over there occasionally to get my fix! For the great guys on this board (like yourself) my message isn't for you. It's my Big Middle Finger for the smaller percentage of not-so-great guys that IMO killed a once fantastic place that we all loved...

There is an alternative. TheBatVault.com
Made it to show what can be done. Still working on the small details, but mainly done. I am in no way trying to defame the BOTB or take its place, just an alternative for those that do not want to be on facebook and will take new memberships. It is a private forum.
Don't get me wrong I love this place and it has some really good stuff in the archives. Not trying to make any money as it is completely free, just wanted an alternative to facebook. The forum is also tapatalk friendly (mobile) and will be on the app sometime today. After that it will be social media friendly, login, sign-up, etc with SM.

The board will NOT be going away. Just give us a little time to sort it all out. In the meantime, other than adding new members (which will be lifted soon) nothing has or will change too drastically.
