Comic style suit inspired by DOJ WIP

So I'm getting started on a new comic style batsuit. I say dawn of justice inspired because to me it looks straight out of the comics. The way it's fabric but still super defined is what I'm after. I had an idea and tested it today on an old t shirt and I'm fairly happy with the results. I took the bottom half of this gladiator Halloween armor %20Uploads/[sign in to see URL]]--Log in or sign up to see linked image content-- and laid a white t shirt that was cut up the back flat onto the back side of the plastic ab piece. Then spread caulking onto the shirt and pressed the caulking into the shirt with a thin foamie sheet with a weight on top. Then let it dry and got this --Log in or sign up to see linked image content-- ignore the fact that it's an old oil stained work shirt and I didn't mold the chest with it. Lol. I didn't want to waste caulking or a good shirt on a test. But i think this will give me the look I want once I find the right color of fabric. I like how it's well defined but you still see the fabric stretching and folding. I'll shop around for some gray compression shirt and pants then update again. I know it's not a lot yet but what do you guys think?

I have been saying to a few friends over the last couple of months how I wanted to see suits like this more. Looking forward to the final result

Thanks drftfan. I agree there's not a lot of love for comic suits right now. Small update. I did another test this time doing the chest and abs. The bat symbol I just threw on there to give me a feel for the look. Not enough caulking on the chest but still not bad. --Log in or sign up to see linked image content-- I'm trying a similar idea for a cowl. I once saw someone make a heat formed foamies cowl and then glue spandex to it and it was the best cowl I've ever seen. I tried it on a rubies Arkham and it didn't turn out bad just not enough definition shows through. But I'll keep experimenting.

Ok so I found some fabric that I'm happy with at Walmart. My cell phone camera didn't pick up the detail on the pattern unfortunately. The caulking is about halfway dried and I pulled it from the mold for a second to smooth any weird spots and figured I'd throw a bat symbol on it and take an update pic. --Log in or sign up to see linked image content-- I'm extremely happy with how this is turning out though. My girlfriend is going to help me sew the rest of the costume with this fabric. The cape will be a pleather one I made a few years ago, the boots will be Gotham 100s and the cowl will most likely be a modified rubies Arkham. I haven't decided on which belt I'll use though. I have a begins belt and one of those functional ones you can find on Amazon. I have leather I considered wet molding for the gauntlets but that's a little beyond my skill level. Lol

Here's where I'm at so far. Probably going with a different cowl and the chest is just held on by my hand and the belt but I wanted to get a feel for how it'll look. I tend to take pictures after every step. Lol--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

I also wanted to add that if anyone tried anything like this you have to use 100 percent silicone caulking. The latex caulking stuff doesn't work and stays puffy for days

That is an amazing and unique way of doing things, and looks awesome! I might have to give it a go with my next suit.

Thanks! I'm very close to being done I'll post some pics tomorrow. I also made a Robin suit for our two year old that I'll post up too.
