Re: Comic book Batman for Halloween

Thanks, Chris!

Good news: I took 2nd Place in the costume contest at work today!! 1st went to a guy dressed as Ursula from "Little Mermaid." He really did have a great costume, but oh, well...

Thanks to all the Brothers who posted tutorials here over the years. I found this site IMMENSELY helpful when doing research the past few months. Pleather is tricky to work with, but overall I'm satisfied how things turn out. I got some nice compliments on the cowl (Reevz) and the cape (me).

Happy Halloween to all!!

Suit turned out great. Props to you for taking the plunge and doing the cape yourself. I looks awesome. Pleather is VERY difficult to work with. Especially if you're trying to sew the shiny side. You need a foot for machine that rolls not hop. For the life of me I can't find one locally anymore.

NOW you tell me...

Thanks, Bigbat! A friend at work who's also a seamstress mentioned that same thing about the shiny side. I actually might tackle the cape again some day so I can go back to my original idea of a blue interior, the difference being all cloth, no pleather.

If I do suit up again, I gotta find a more comfortable cowl. I might go the cloth neck route I've seen some guys do. My nose and ears STILL hurt from putting the cowl on and off all day yesterday. It's a WONDERFUL display piece, but I'd rather be able to eat and drink while wearing it.

Thanks much, Phantom! The one advantage of pleather is no hemming required, so I was able to make the scallops pretty tight (as long as I cut carefully)
