80s Comic Version Batman

Hi everyone. Not posted in here for a long while, been busy over the last few years with work and further training (mature student) which was a shock to the old grey matter having to study again and sit exams which I thought were long behind me so costuming had taken a back seat for a while, but im back and starting 2017 with a costume build I have thought about in the past and have finally decided to try and make it a reality.

Its a story from a 1981 anual I had as a kid and the art work made a big impression on me. I just loved the look of Batman in this.

I love the look of the long ears and glove fins and I am looking forward to a bit more colour for a change to my usual 89 suit.

So I started by asking for a off the shelf Arkham cowl for Christmas to have a go at modifying.

Image

I cut the neck off, padded the ears with foam and wire to straighten them, gave it a few coats of blue flexidip and added so white mesh to the eyes.

Awesome Lee. I can't wait to see how you go about everything. Are you thinking of sculpting your own cowl?

Just beat you to your question with my previous post. Lol
I going to see how this modification of the Arkham cowl turns out first. :)

Made a paper template of the chest emblem.

Cut the parts out of foam.

Coated the pieces with latex and plastidip and glued them together.

Glued the chest emblem to a grey lycra suit and tried it on to see how the muscle suit was looking. I haven't added any muscles to the for arms as I dont know how much room I will have in the gloves when I get them.

Found these on ebay, thought they would make a great functional utility belt.

Image

I had to buy twice as many as a needed for the belt to swap some of the caps over to get the look I wanted.
