Kelley Jones Cowl---now with Gauntlets!

It's been forever since I posted anything new here, so I thought this was the cowl to jump back in with. I started the sculpt for fun about 3-1/2 years ago, and finally got up the courage (and the money) to mold it recently. Yesterday I poured the first cowl---here it is:

Image

This was a challenge to mold and cast it. I was surprised how well the ears stood up on their own (Vytaflex 40 urethane), but I'll have to add flexible foam to future pours to help them---I used some scrap foam insulation in them for these pics.

Let me know what you guys think. emoticon

Fantastic, just fantastic! The overall look but also the details make it stand out, this cowl has BATMAN written all over it and I love it! What is the headsize of it?

Thanks guys! It easily fits my 24" head. Hope to get some pics of me wearing it soon.

I always thought Kelley Jones' interpretation was more supernatural than tactical, and fit in well with the idea of striking terror into the hearts of criminals. Even though the look isn't exactly realistic, I figured it was how terrified criminals saw him, as he was about to pounce on them.

Thanks! emoticon

Finally got around to getting a pic of me in the cowl---mirror selfies aren't easy in this cowl. Forgot the eye-black, so I used Photoshop; forgot to clean the mirror, too, obviously. :P

So freakin cool. If you were doing this in latex I'd definitely grab one (just for fun) but in truth I really don't like urethane on my face. Still, I'm giving this one some serious thought. emoticon

Thanks Ed! I understand the latex preference, and I considered doing this one in latex. But now that I have this ridiculously tall mold (silicone with plasti-paste mother-mold), I think an ultracal mold would have been way too heavy to easily cast cowls out of. At least for an old fart like me. :P Besides, it does seem like most people prefer urethane nowadays.
