For some (what I always felt was a ridiculous concern) wanted to limit what people really wanted,,,when they first show up. I and the current staff don't have these concerns. I've been on this board since 2001 and when I first showed up that's basically why I showed up and things were a lot simpler then. I have brought us back to basics. Do what you want, just respect each other. AND this is the biggie, we're all big kids here, when you enter into a deal with someone you do that of your own accord and your own risk. We will NOT intervene in any way. Please check the Trading Post for the rules (and they're minimal). Still though, don't have any clue what this has to do with this facebook topic. :confused nondisclosed_email@example.com (efarrell4)Fri, 08 Jun 2018 13:31:16 +0000 Re: My view on Facebook/Instagram and what it has done to our "hobby".https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2345282,from=rss#post2345282https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2345282,from=rss#post2345282Years ago the joke was that around the beginning of October new folks would come here for the quick buy of a full suit, needed in a week! :banghead You have to remember that you're in control of what you make, do, and how you wish to disseminate the product. I suppose what I was trying to say is rarely will a person ask what to do. They just want it done for them. Then when you explain they have to put something together themselves 9 times out of 10 they simply don't even want to try. You can have people pop up every day who can 3d print, mold and make copies but the concept of gluing down armor is somehow elusive? It just doesn't make sense to me. And onto the subject of entitlement... I had someone complain the other day that they received a urethane cowl with "dust" on it. Dust. From shipping. That one blew my mind. And is just another reason I am working to move away from doing this on any sort of full time basis. nondisclosed_email@example.com (drftfan)Wed, 09 May 2018 10:32:06 +0000 Re: My view on Facebook/Instagram and what it has done to our "hobby".https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2345211,from=rss#post2345211https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2345211,from=rss#post2345211So... at the risk of sounding like the type of person you're describing, I want to counter with this... its very difficult for someone just getting bitten by the batsuit building bug to make a lot of sense of the instructional material currently available. In my humble opinion the old world was better in so many ways. One thing we have to remember is that the young ones have no way of knowing that other than by us saying it. nondisclosed_email@example.com (artsee1)Thu, 12 Apr 2018 08:25:37 +0000 Re: My view on Facebook/Instagram and what it has done to our "hobby".https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2345168,from=rss#post2345168https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2345168,from=rss#post2345168Rant away Brother and remind everyone on buttbook that we are still here. :) nondisclosed_email@example.com (efarrell4)Wed, 11 Apr 2018 19:59:32 +0000 My view on Facebook/Instagram and what it has done to our "hobby".https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2345165,from=rss#post2345165https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p2345165,from=rss#post2345165I will be the first to admit I don't get why people prefer to hang out on Facebook as opposed to forums. There are some positives. Mainly it is a great way to advertise. Well until your sales post gets shut down for copyright infringement which I just saw the other day. Those groups aren't as private as people think. The real negative I have seen come out of it is what was feared here for so long. That it would become almost like a wal-mart for batsuits. When I get people asking about suits now I NEVER get a question as to how much armor is. It is always how much for a complete suit with everything. Or I quote a price for a cowl or suit and about 50% of the time they want a discount. It seems really odd to me. I had a guy blowing up my email inbox the other day and after I said I had family in town and would talk with him in a few days he bought an armor kit from someone else. Who he then tried to cancel on and get it from me. What really blew my mind was him and I were talking and he went with the other armor without a conversation with the person. Just that it was cheaper. Never mind the fact it doesnt include all of the pieces, the right cape, or even the gauntlets. It just was cheaper. I absolutely think that is a biproduct of the facebook/instagram thing. Everything is just put out there on front street now. And the snarkiness is something else. Everyone is an expert because they have watched a youtube video or someone else said something. Sorry this turned into a little bit of a rant. I miss the good old days of forums.       nondisclosed_email@example.com (drftfan)Wed, 11 Apr 2018 09:59:58 +0000
