Re: Fantasy Batman Reboot Cast

I never said 6 months. All I said was that anyone can build muscle mass with a personal trainer and with whatever finances available, to get the job done.

Given enough time, proper diet, protien shakes, workout routine, etc, (as well as gobs and gobs of will-power)... Anyone CAN build muscle mass.

It's just way freaking easier not to. :lol

My wife and I both agree that the absolute perfect male body, that either of us have ever seen, is the guy who plays Alcide, on the HBO series "True Blood". His name is Joe Manganiello. We also saw him as the bully in the Spiderman films.

Obviously, he didn't get THAT body in a period of 6 months. That's a shaped body, with a very specific routine of workouts, to get a build like that. Similar to how swimmers who have very looooong muscles in their arms and legs. It takes time and repetition.

Christian Bale's body, on the other hand, is a 6 month workout. Heavy lifting and diet and a trainer screaming at him to do and eat and do and eat.

I'm no one to talk about working out or dieting. My workout is picking up material at the lumber yard and then moving it around at home, the job site or in built/cabinet form. And my diet is lots of carbs, calories and proteins. emoticon

So, anyway... It depends on how you want to look at it. How dedicated and to what end the actor wants to take it.

Along those lines, the earlier mentioned Gerard Butler probably only had 6-9 months prior to filming 300 to get off his pack a day cigarette habit and into shape. Granted he had all off what Liam mention in addition to an airbrush artist on set.

BTW, Manganiello needs to be in a superhero movie of some sort, playing the hero.

Joe Manganiello would make a pretty cool Hercules if they went off some of the recent Marvel stuff they did with the character. He would need to maybe add another 20, 25 lbs or so. The guy I picked is around 6'3" and is fairly under the radar at the moment. I think that the main should be fairly unknown as well. From what I've seen him in I think he would do well as both characters. Fun thing about these lists is seeing who everyone likes for certain characters.

Let's not forget what else these guys are using: steroids. All that isn't just hard work and diet. That guy has been on some cutters at some point (and probably some photoshop too!).

That, my friend, is not necessarily true. Not EVERYONE is taking steroids when it comes to bodybuilding although it is sad that it became very common especially in the competitive bodybuilding sports sector.

But there are many Bodybuilders ( me too) who don't do steroids out of two reasons: steroids do have extremely dangerous side effects ( and i am sure that Hollywood can't risk to expose their stars to those risks) and the muscle mass that's build up with the help of steroids will disappear nearly as soon as you stop training regularly.
Natural Bodybuilding is healthy and much more rewarding.

Why do you believe that?

if someone else isn't really playing on the same field or by the same rules we do... then maybe we don't have to feel so bad about ourselves. I suppose this would characterize the Superman fan more than, say, the Batman fan.(Fingeroth 32)

Talk about thread hijacking...

Steroid use, in my opinion, isn't as bad a thing, as society is making it out to be. There's more hypocrisy involved in this country, than there is common sense. It's only because of the rules and restrictions that have been placed on their use, that've made the word "steroids" a taboo topic. Because of professional sports and Olympic competitions, it's been outlawed and labeled as a method of cheating... Understandably so.

But that doesn't mean it's "wrong".

Marijuana has been labeled "wrong" by society, but we all know there's FAR worse drugs out there that are perfectly legal.

Steroids come in all sorts. Some are more potent than others, and you'd have to be a fool to put those choices in your body. But most of them are quite bland and harmless, especially if used wisely.

If a celebrity wanted to use mild steroids to get themselves looking the part... I see no problem with that. They're committed to the role and want to do whatever's necessary to achieve the look of the character. It's the heavy duty stuff that becomes the problem, over a long period of time.

As a matter of fact... I'm going to go get myself a giant cup of "poor man's steroids", to keep me going today. I think we took advantage of the price of steroids we got at Costco this week and got the Chock full o'Nuts variety.

I would only cast unknowns in super hero movies, otherwise we end up with Ryan Renyolds as Green Lantern.

Agreed, Ryan Renyolds was a good in the role just the fact I think they could've find someone different instead of a big name actor so they can gain some fast cash.

Don't forget we have actors like Nicolas Cage and Ben Affleck said that during interviews that they were fans of the comic's... So please don't cast someone that read the comic's as a kid. Saying that I could be wrong but so far it hasn't worked out.

Don't forget Christian Bale wasn't a very big name till he played Batman, So cast a unknown or someone who isn't that big of a name.

I agree, the only time that I believe the use of steroids is 'wrong' is when they're used to gain an unfair advantage over the competition in a sporting event. If an actor uses them to enhance his physique for a role, it's his choice to risk the side-effects, go for your life chief.
