Most people call it craft foam or soft foam. Foamies is a brand name i believe and it's just the name that stuck with them.

Great job on the masks. I'd never have guessed foamies.

You can get that stuff at Michael's and Hobby Lobby for sure. Michael's usually has 2mm and 6 mm sheets. You can buy a roll of the 2mm stuff. Hobby Lobby for some reason has 3mm sheets. The stuff will suck up paint so it is best to seal it before painting. The recommendation is to use a 1 part Sobo glue, 1 part Aleene's flexible fabric glue and 2 parts water mixture for sealing. Just paint it on, and the water stops it from leaving brush marks. A few coats later and it will be sealed for use with any paint.

Fair warning though. It can be fragile. I like the fact that you used a wood base for the buckle. I made my first buckle entirely out of 6mm foam and the paint eventually started to crack due to the foam bending from moving around. Nice work on those masks! :up

Okay, so I'm getting some new foamies together and I am stuck on the adhesives...no pun intended lol. What is the best glue to use with foamies and neoprene or under armor under suit??
