Re: Project 89 continues...
That definitely looks great!!
Would you be able to share a link to the fabric?
How much do you need to construct an undersuit??

Re: Project 89 continues...
Yeah, check it out here bro.:) Vinyl Matte finish spandex fabric
Bottom right corner of the samples.
I usually purchase 4 yards but really only needed slightly less than 3. I get 4 just in case I mess up. Doesn't hurt having extra around.

Re: Project 89 continues...
Found a source om the net who offers custom catsuits in the 4-way stretch vinyl spandex stuff... so I'll most likely postpone suit assembly and get one of those. I know I'll be severely unhappy otherwise...
Also, bar was raised when I received this:
Can't make a half-assed batsuit to go with this little jewel. Functional buckle, very nice work :)
Here it is, next to a 3D-printed prototype from another source I obtained some time ago.
But yeah, another undersuit... hm. More to come...

Nice belt! Yeah, you might as well go all the way, but take it in steps. A little upgrade here and there. You'll have a quality suit in no time. :up
I was looking to obtain a fully made under suit years ago, before I went the self made route. The prices on the ready made cat suits were a bit out of my range to say the least.
So I took up sewing lessons from Youtube videos and obtained a medium sized Singer brand sewing machine. I unstiched a standard cheap catsuit I owned (sentai type) and went to work from there.
The real reason I went this route is because I knew I'd probably have to remount my armor a few times after the wear and tear cycle took hold of my suit.
Having to purchase another expensive cat suit would have killed my bank.
Considering I've made 4 cat suits throughout the years too. Each cat suit I made, improved. I tried to follow the general patterns of Keaton's suit, where the seams are located and such. His cat suit isn't a simple zip up 4 pattern suit. I used 12 patterns to make mine. But was it necessary to get it to look just like his? Nope. Not really. Nobody notices where the seam lines are when the armor is mounted. I could have gone the simpler route, but...you know.. Had to try it.
If you have the funds to grab a ready made cat suit, then go for it. It saves time and headaches. Just be sure to be extremely careful when mounting it.
Once it's on, you can't unpeel it without damaging the coat. It'll peel right off the spandex.
Also remember...it helps a lot if you glue the bond from the inside as well. Flip your bat suit inside out or try to get in there as much as you can and use a liquid (not gel) cyano based super glue (like krazy glue and such) and give it a thin touch all around the edges of the bond to further reinforce your armor to the catsuit. If not, you may risk leeching.

Don't suppose you would be willing to share a pattern would you?

Re: Project 89 continues...
Thanks for the hijack! No, seriously... my thread apparently delivers, as hijacking is a great form of praise on an internet forum. :wink
Yeah, lots of inspiration here. Glad the catsuit info came up here before I started to glue and mess up my stuff. Regular spandex suit is scrapped as of now - dunno, maybe I can sell it to a stormtrooper or something.
