Could Kevin Conroy Pull it Off?
Tonight at work I was thinking about Batman Beyond and in particular "The Return of the Joker". I recently watched my brand new copy of it (uncut of course), thanks to some really awesome friends of mine.
Anyways, during one of the features on the DVD it has interviews with Will Friedle (Terry McGinnis) and Kevin Conroy; the legend and possibly the best representation of Batman other than the comics (the source). Now, I've always thought that Will could totally play Terry in a live action Beyond film. He looks a great deal like Terry and he could easily have the body for it by toning up because while the suit does amplify the wearer's strength Terry is a natural athlete and posses gymnastic abilities.
Now, I've also always thought that Kevin could totally pull off the "aged Bruce" with the aid of some prosthetics, as Bruce is in his 80's in Beyond. To me Kevin is "the voice" of Batman. It's the voice I hear in my head when I read the comics, except no substitutes. What I started to wonder was, could Kevin have ever pulled off Batman when he was in his 30's? I have seen very few pictures of him when he was younger. What do you guys think? Could Kevin have pulled it off?
(As a side note Kevin is only a few years younger than Keaton and in theory he could have been our "89 Batman". Though, we still would've had that dumbass suit and Tim Burton)

I think you missed a letter in your tagline, Mr. Rebird.

Re: Could Kevin Conroy pull it off?
this was him in 1992...in some of the pics he looks the part..others not so much...he's done pretty much only voice work since batman and his work prior to it was pretty forgetable...whether or not he could have pulled it off i don't know...but keep in mind a lot of very successful voice actors are not particularly good in front of a camera...skott

With the right make-up and scowling (gotta look mean to be old man wayne), I totally believe he could manage it.

Re: Could Kevin Conroy pull it off?
I definately think he could have pulled it off, without a doubt in my mind. He was big enough, has the features, and we all know he's got the voice. Hell ya, I wish he had done it back in the day.

Re: Could Kevin Conroy pull it off?
Thuth, he didn't miss a letter. That's intentional. :p
ETA: Forgot to answer the actual question. Blame the Nyquil. I don't know if he could have been Batman way back when, but I'd be just as happy to see him be an old Bruce in a Beyond live action thing. Actually, I'd be happy with just one more Beyond movie, animated or otherwise. I kind of think a big JLA/Beyond movie would be fun, considering the events in "Epilogue". Plus I think the Lantern/Shayera/Warhawk thing deserves more than it got, and that could be worked in.

Re: Could Kevin Conroy pull it off?
I think he could have been a much better Batman than Keaton. I also agree he could be 80 year old Bruce with a good makeup artist.

I think you need to check you reading glass...
I agree he hasn't done much acting in front of the camera and as was pointed out most voice actors aren't really capable of making the leap from just using their voice to using their entire body. But I'd like for someone to test that theory on Conroy.
I just can't help but think how amazing it would be to hear "The Batman voice" out of a live action Batman. While I think he could have easily pulled off Batman in 89 I think I would be much more interested in seeing him play old Bruce. Who doesn't love pissed off old Wayne? Not only that but it would be a "Bruce Wayne" that we have never seen before, making it even that much more interesting

Yeah, but to be fair, dirt would have done a better job than Keaton :lol It's just disapointing to me that we had wonderful actors to choose from but ended up with "Mr. Mom" instead :ohwell
