Re: Could Kevin Conroy pull it off?
I was away so I missed this thread. It would indeed be excellent to have Conroy play the old BW in a BB film. He actually had enough of a look to pull off Batman when he was younger judging from the link posted. I am in full agreement that Batman isn't and shouldn't be armored other than the symbol on his chest or maybe a cup. While the latex suits are way cool, the Batman I grew up with, Neal Adams late sixties to the seventies, was an acrobat and needed a light weight suit to fight and manuver. How the hell do you hide any of the latex costumes on your person? No quick change there. "Let me stop this crime....First I have to go to the SUV that is big enough to hold the suit and allow me to change then hold off for 20 minutes while I suit up."

Re: Could Kevin Conroy pull it off?
Ha Ha Ha, I'm with Lance on this one as the Batman he refers to (the Neal Adams version) is probably my favourite depiction of our :batman
The armoured suit is cool for specials like Batman VS Predator when he needs the gimmicks and gizmos, but for someone who has trained himself to the pinnacle of human perfection using what amounts to a tank as a costume just cheapens that..

Re: Could Kevin Conroy pull it off?
So why don't ya Steve? Don't be afraid. :p
Ok, I had to answer this one.
Safety personnel take the time to put their safety gear on to respond to emergencies all the time. Why is it so unrealistic for Batman to do the same when he hears a call on his police scanners?
A good firefighter can get into all his gear and out of the garage in the engine within a matter of seconds. A good SWAT agent or riot police can have all his armor on within seconds. All that stuff is designed to be put on double-quick.
So I think it taking Batman "20 minutes" to rush out and put all his gear on is a bit of a straw-man argument. Of course he's not going to have 20 minutes to put it on. And of course, being Batman, he won't need 20 minutes.
But since he's in a fictional world its just not possible for him to get his gear on as quickly, just because it doesnt fit with someone's view of him? Give me a break.
Besides... Batman is usually routinely patrolling the city anyway every night. He doesnt need to worry about how much time he has to armor up anyway because he's already in his suit and patrolling on foot or in his car, presumably with other gear stashed in the car.
You can train yourself to the "pinnacle of human perfection", to use the phrase us bat-nuts like to quote, but that won't make you able to dodge a bullet once its comin for ya. Unless you're an all-powerful deity that can vanish into thin air or something. :raiseeybrow

Re: Could Kevin Conroy pull it off?
Patrick, you make a very good point.
What I meant when I said 'armoured suit' was something akin to the outfit he wore in Batman VS Predator and not the traditional batsuit that we all take as being armoured to some extent.
I have no problem with any interpretation of the Bat, reasonably armoured or not, but think that the point made by Lance does have a degree of validity as being massively armoured would slow down the bat somewhat / negate some level of skill.

Re: Could Kevin Conroy pull it off?
Lance was, I think, getting at how Spiderman or Superman would do a spur of the moment change into their costumes, in order to stop the crime they saw being committed at that moment.
Batman's more of an, "I'll see you later. In the dark" kinda' guy, if he sees something take place while he's Bruce. Or he'll have Alfred bring his gear, so he doesn't lose sight of the enemy or so he can tail him somehow.
It takes me 15 to 20 minutes to get my stuff on... But, that includes the black eye goop and smearing the KY for lubricating the cowl.
Imagine if the comics showed Bruce flailing around and trying to squeeze into his suit, while in the backseat of the limo. :lol That'd tire me out to the point of saying... "Ya' know what? I'm pooped! I'll just get him later." :zzzz
