:rollin Now THAT'S what I'm thinking it's gonna' be. :rollin
The scenes look great, though... As far as their special effects that is.

Re: First critics reviews on Superman Returns
that guy with movie city news is an idiot.
the very last line of his article says critics should look forward to Miami Vice and World Trade Center as the only good big budget movies of the summer.
I don't know bout WTC, but Miami Vice looks a hell of a lot more of a waste of time and money than Superman Returns.
I hate critics. You could line them all up and get a million different opinions, and every single thought would be wrong.
The only people who's opinions I trust about movies are people who aren't paid by a newspaper to tell me what to like or not like.

Re: First critics reviews on Superman Returns
I never make a judgement on whether I'll see a movie or not based on a critics review because I more than not disagree with them. That being said, I did enjoy the link Echo posted.

How many god damn times am I going to answer this question? Not only that but why do I have to defend my opinion at every turn? But more importantly why is my view only called into question when it differs from the majority? Why do you think this movie is going to be so great? You have no more evidence than I do. I don't mean to come down on you, I just feel like I am always being asked to defend my views and I find it a little upsetting.
Here is my answer, stating the same thing as I always do, from another thread a few months ago:
"Yes, though I don't feel like I have to validate my opinion, there are plenty of comic book live action adaptations that I am a fan of. Sadly, most of the well-known ones are all Marvel characters. I am a fan of both Spiderman films, all there X-Men films, Punisher and Daredevil (though it has its flaws, the director's cut is pretty awesome and makes up for some of its short comings). I also like lesser known comic character movie adaptations such as Constantine, V for Vendetta, The Shadow, Hellboy was pretty decent, American Splendor is a comic book movie though contains no superheroes, A History of Violence (yes, it was based on a graphic novel) and there are others.
As for cartoon adaptations Batman: The Animated Series is an adaptation and nothing has gotten even CLOSE to getting it as right as a kid s cartoon show has. That's rather sad. Also, Justice League (especially when it became Unlimited) is amazing. Another "kid’s show" that gets it better than big TV/movie execs
However, of all those live action films, none are perfect panel to screen movies (Sin City is the only film to have done that yet and I dislike both the comic and the movie). That isn't what I look for in a comic book movie. First, I look for a movie that, as a stand alone film, is of any quality and then, after that fact, I judge it based on it as an adaptation of a comic book character. All I require in that sense is that they stay true to the essence of the character. Films like any of the Batman movies or hell and of the Superman movies (and what appears to be the upcoming Returns) don't do that. Not even close. Just like with Smallville.
And, in Smallville's case it sucks on two fronts. It is a poorly written show AND a horrible Superman story. The only way it could get much worse was if Clark fights a giant spider in the season finale.
And, as I've sad before: I just don't easily like crap. Slapping an S on some dude's chest doesn't make him Superman and put ears on another's head doesn't make him Batman. Too many, I think, easily love something just because it says a certain name. It happens in society all the time, it's why brand names sell better and at higher prices than generic items. People love the name, be damned everything else."
That said, all I did was post a link with a review with a different view. That's all. I haven't seen the film, I don't know if it will suck or not. But from everything I have read, even the positive reviews, I won't like it. The "positive" reviews praise things I think are horrible. And whether you agree with the review I posted or not I think what he said is going to be very true; just because it says Superman this movie is going to do amazing at the box office. But remember, box office numbers have nothing to do with the quality of the film. Any movie aficionado can tell you the same.
