Cancelling your AOL account
This guy has a fairly hard time trying to get the customer service guy to just do a simple thing. You won't believe THIS.
I don't know how real it is, but if you decide to cancel your AOL account, I'd recommend doing so strictly online.

Re: Cancelling your AOL account
Sure. I'll start up a new post in the Trading section. Yeah, I've made a couple in the past week.
Strangely, no Begins stands though. I'd have thought they would be the big seller.

Re: Cancelling your AOL account
My mum uses AOL and when she asked them if they could suspend the account they said they couldn't do it, something to do with the 12 month contract. She was going through a difficult time finacially and they kept taking the money out even though she didn't have anything in her account. That's customer service for ya.
Personally, I wouldn't touch AOL with a 10 foot barge pole, I use NTL. :hey

Re: Cancelling your AOL account
I've AOL for about 12 years now and I've only had one real problem with them and that when I moved to a different State in the early days of AOL before unlimited usage and many servers to support many users. Even then it was a pain to get my issue resolved but it finally did get resolved (to lengthy to describe in email).
Thanks for posting that Echo because in the future if I ever need to cancel it's nice to know what to avoid.
Sean

Re: Cancelling your AOL account
I've heard horror-stories about AOL, but then again I've heard people having no problem at all with them.:toocool
I use Tiscali and my only qualm is that their Tech Support is 1/based in India so you have a hard time cutting through the Indian Accent and 2/they know less than stuff all. :banghead
I mean, I work in the I.T industry and to have someone talk down to me as if I'm a complete idiot really gets me steamed but try complaining to Tiscali and they don't wanna know :firemad

Re: Cancelling your AOL account
What's their deal? Why would they have such a history of doing everything possible, to KEEP you from canceling your account, even if it includes pissing you off? Why go to THAT extent?
That's the dumbest customer service idea I've ever heard of. :cookoo
