Star Wars DVD's
While the original versions of the movies will be released on DVD in Sept. through Dec 31.. after that, will there be another boxset with all 6 movies? Lucas has raped me already. I must have 5 different versions of the movies..

Re: Star Wars DVD's
Lucas will probably come out with a SPECIAL EDITION 2008 version... It's unique because it will come out in 2008. At no other time he will make the 2008 version avialable. Then there'll be a SPECIAL EDITION 2010 version since we'll be out of the single digit years...:cussing
I'm a being to cynical here :huh

Re: Star Wars DVD's
The problem with these "Original Versions" is that they didn't bother to do animorphic widescreen, which means that if you have a widecreen and/or HD tv or monitor, it just stretches the image, so it'll look like utter ****
That in itself (in addition to the inevitable OT/PT 6-film set) means there'll be at least one more additional version coming out after this one on DVD. Then, of course, after the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray format war settles down, we'll get versions on that as well, just to piss people off
The worst part? People just gobble this up

Re: Star Wars DVD's
Exactly.
I'm done with it.
Fu*k you Lucas. Stop milking a single franchise to death. Don't you think it's time you attempt to prove to people that you're capable of doing something other than just something related to the world of Star Wars?
He's got the "Little Richard Syndrome", where he seems incapable of achieving profits on anything unless it directly pulled of off past successes.

Re: Star Wars DVD's
Here's an idea...
My daughter is pretty much bored with every DVD she has now. I know she would love to see another Barbie or Care Bear type show. Since these have been done a hundred times over he could have relative success with taking the same idea and remarketing it.
AHHH, F@#K IT! I'm with Echo :cussing

Re: Star Wars DVD's
Are you saying only 'pan and scan' for the original version?
Somehow I seriously doubt that.
Star Wars was an early widescreen release back in 92 when widescreen wasn't popular,so I doubt they wouldn't release it in this format.
Plus,it was guys like Lucas,Woody Allen,Ron Howard,S. Speilberg, etc.,who made the big push for widescreen around '85 or so,because full screen ruins movies.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but it just doesn't sound right.
Either way,we'll never see an original cut anyway, since it's been ripped apart about three times in the 70s alone, before we even got to 'Empire'.
The only way to see the original was in '77.

Re: Star Wars DVD's
I guess those of who still remember seeing it in the theaters in '77 are dating ourselves a tad bit too.

Re: Star Wars DVD's
When Liam started THIS thread a few months ago I had this to say about the subject after I few people (like in this thread) whined about the release of another set of SW DVD's:
Quote: Maybe you don't fit into this but a lot of Star Wars fans do and it pisses me off...
They bitched and bitched and bitched for the regular editions of the movies. Then, they come out, and they !@#$ that now they *have* to buy a new set of DVD's. Give me a f*cking break. You don't *have* to buy anything.
People just seem to enjoy bitching at Lucas, though, they still keep buying the things he puts out and then just complaining about it afterward. That is just as retarded as me buying Batman 89 and watching it over and over again just so I can !@#$ about it more and talk about how much Keaton and Burton ruined Batman for me. I don't like it, so I don't buy it. It is really quite simple.
This quote pisses me off the most, because it is the quintessential "Star Wars fan" quote: "You've [Lucas] been taking our money for 30 years, so why not take it again, because this time we want you to take it"
Um, hey, dumbass, he doesn't come to your house at night and steal money from your wallet. You walk your sorry ass to the store and buy whatever sh*t he puts out. He isn't TAKING anything, you're flat out GIVING it to him. In return for a good no less. If you don't like said good, here's a thought: don't buy it.
Honestly, I don't care who shot first. I don't. It doesn't change Han's character and that moment doesn't define him any different. I like that the story of Jabba is added back in ANH. I like that Cloud City doesn't look as boring and plain white. I like that the sarlacc pit is more than just a hole in the ground. The special editions did add some good things. Of course there are a slew of bad things as well. The point is that he doesn't "owe it" to anyone to put out the old versions if he wants the special editions to be his vision. Lucas has never really given a crap about the fans, that's just the kind of creator he is. The fact that all the fanboy bitching and whining finally got to him is the only reason this is coming out.
