Re: Superman Returns! An Enlightening review!
Well, since it's out in the open, as far as the big "spoiler" (thanks to manoftomorrow1938 :wink), that only leaves me to say...
Now they've made Superman a DEAD BEAT DAD!?!?!?!?!
Talk about... :geez Oh Jesus! :geez
Byt the way... Did anyone catch the meaning of what he was saying to the annoying kid, as he was sleeping? He saidsomething to tthe effect of, "The Son becomes a Father and the Father becomes a Son." :huh
The Father becomes a Son? :cookoo
Huh? :huh

Re: Superman Returns! An Enlightening review!
Maybe he was trying to say..."JOIN ME AND TOGETHER WE CAN RULE THIS PLANET AS FATHER AND SON!"
Wait, different movie and I guess that was the whole Galaxy.

Re: Superman Returns! An Enlightening review!
SPOILER alert
The "son becomes the father and the father becomes the son" was taken, nearly word for word, from Superman I, when Jor-El is putting his infant son in the crystal ship. just a few words were changed here and there to reflect the different situation.

Re: Superman Returns! An Enlightening review!
Spoilers again
You know... I forgot that. Brando's mumbly voice doesn't give as much reason to listen, as Routh's does I guess. :lol
But... What does it mean? Obviously "The Son" is Kal-L finding out he's now a "Father", of the annoying kid.
But when it's said, by either Jor-L or Kal-L, what's it mean when he says "And the father becomes the son"?
Is being "the Son" symbolic of something?

Re: Superman Returns! An Enlightening review!
In Superman: the Movie, Jor-El is telling his son that, even though he will be dead physically, his son, his heir, will carry on his legacy and, thanks to the crystals of the fortress, also all his knowledge and memories. so kal-el becomes the bearer of his father's legacy, memory, and the core of what he stood for. he "becomes" his father by carrying his spirit with him.
clark kent alone is one man, but "kal-el" carries with him all that remains of the Kryptonian race. so it's as though father and son are united because all of krypton lives on in him.
basically an attempt by the scriptwriters to create more symbolic connections between Superman and Christ, where none really existed in the minds of Siegel and Schuster.
