My WIP Brandon as Superman Sculpt
Hey bat bros. I know I haven't posted much at all lately. I have been lurking mostly. Hope all is well.
Ok...the pics do this WIP sculpt no justice but I wanted to share my progress nonetheless...let me know what you think...thanks for looking...
I want to mold this and cast it out of something sandable. Any suggestions? I was thinking some kind of resin? Any links to help me out? Thanks

Re: My WIP Brandon as Superman Sculpt
WOW, BRO!!!
That looks amazing! I can't wait to see it when it's done! I'd be willing to bet you're gonna give the major toy companies a run for their money! Keep an eye out, if you see someone lurking in the bushes out side your window, it's just a rep from Kenner, or Hasbro trying to steal tips... do a V figure next! :p Congrats, bro! Keep up the good work!!!

Re: My WIP Brandon as Superman Sculpt
That looks great so far Jon.
What scale is he? Also, what kind of clay?
You'll probably have to take him apart in certain areas to mold him.
Before you get too far, look into this.
His body may be OK to do in one piece, but you might have to take off his arms at the shoulders and cast them separately.
It's a little beyond my realm of expertise, but I know the basic theory.

Re: My WIP Brandon as Superman Sculpt
Thanks guys! I used the same oil based clay I use for everything. He is 11.5 inches tall and 5.25 inches from elbow to elbow.
John- I can see why you would say that I would need to remove his arms since the plaster or whatever I use to mold him would lock his arms in if I didn't.
I hope to find a way around that though.

Re: My WIP Brandon as Superman Sculpt
That looks awesome, as all your stuff do.
If you want to make it in Resin, you need to mold it whit Silicone, the stuff you used for your Superman belt and emblem should work.
And it would have to be a 2 part mold of the figure, but as John said. you have to seperate it at some areas.. otherwise you will end up getting undercuts, and thats hard to mold if they are still there.
Their is a good tutorial on how to do a 2 part silicone mold somewhere, I saw it on RPF a long time ago.
Im sure someone know wich one im talking about, Lets just hope someone still have it :)
It will help alot!
Looking forward to see more progress on this figure, Its really gonna kick some serious lex luthor ass.
