Leather Cowl Progress - Pics (Pgs. 1 & 6)
Update - Moody vanity shots first since I'm so handsome and we all love a pic: more pics in better (non-Batman) daylight at some point this w/e.
Yes this is still the same old WIP prototype cowl you have seen before, NOT the finished version. {i.e. please ignore the lumps, bumps, scrapes and rough and ready seams} The difference being that now that the leather is formed and dry & I've got it bonded to the proto undershell I can for the first time (drum roll) put it on!
May not seem like much of an update, but I'm sure some of you will understand how this feels. It's been nigh on 3 often frustrating years to get to the point where I've finally made something that actually goes on my head.
Standing in front of the mirror and slipping it on for the first time was an eye opener. One moment the usual scruffy unkempt sleep deprived GA was looking back, & the next moment **** ME!!! It's Batman in my bathroom!"
Big sigh of relief, because, up to that moment, despite all my hot air I didn't know if this was going to end up in the garbage, just being a display piece or in fact be a wearable cowl. Last year it looked like it was headed in the right direction sitting on the forming sculpt, but, as I've learned, the moment you start to think things are going well is normally just before it all turns to ****. The fact that A) It fits B) It works and C) Seeing a face peering out from it gave off even a hint of the bat vibe was - for me at least - a real milestone. (Imagine Doctor Frankenstein waving his arms around screaming "It's alive - it's ALIVE!!!" and you'll get how I felt.)
I'll write up a kinda production status report thing and post it here tomorrow because I love the sound of my own voice. Sorry, I mean for those interested in the behind the scenes work.

Re: Leather cowl progress report : A good day for GA
GA..
WOW!
Put a huge smile on my face seeing this thing finished! Looks superb!
There's a kind of Devil like look to it, it's hard to describe, something demonic, and yet quite organic, looks very much like an extension of your personal features.
Must be that noir type lighting?
Looks great to me.
--- Hee hee. "Get her." That was your whole plan. I like it; it was scientific.

If you got my PM, you already know how I feel. But just in case you didn't, that cowl is a work of art. Simply gorgeous. I know it's not done, but you could quit now if you felt like it. Really, it looks fantastic, thanks for the update. :)
