Armor Pieces Vs. Full Body Armor
I have no experience making my own suit so there is probably an obvious answer to this question but hey I will ask anyway.
Why is it that everyone so favours the method of making armour and then glueing it onto an undersuit rather than making a full suit like what Artsee offers. To me the armour method, while it looks great in a lot of shots, just feels too artificial for me and there is always shots where you can clearly see that its glued onto an undersuit. Now as I understand this was done in some instances in the films, but I it was never supposed to look that way and in all the close up shots and so on they seem to have full suits.
Anyway like I say I apologise if this is an obvious question I am just curious.

Re: Armour Vs Full suits
I think you answered your own question. Artee made his own. unless you are built like him, as his brothers are, you'll need to cut modify & glue. Also the first 2 movies have more of the noticible armor and it they are what brought alot to the hobby.

Re: Armour Vs Full suits
There's a few reasons not to do a full one-piece suit...
1. Comfort - The buildup of heat, chaffing, movement, sitting, etc.
2. Cost of Materials - To do a full suit out of latex or foam rubber is more costly.
3. Screen Accuracy - Most screen suits are either a bodysuit or wetsuit with an applied armor. (that's if you're going for a movie version suit of course).
4. It Lasts Longer
There may be more reasons than this, but that's what comes to mind so far...

Re: Armour Vs Full suits
I think that even Paul (artsee1) would agree that the evolution is going towards a front only facade. That is why he did the Generic Begins suit like that.
I have both the bib (front only top armor) and a two-sided suit. Recently I cut the two sided suit and added elastic straps and I like it a whole lot better.
If you were making a costume like Wolverine that didn't have a cape then the two-sided suits would be the way to go. Otherwise I would stick to a one-sided facade and either glue it on or strap it on.
Just my 2 cents.

I completely agree about the front facade. In reality, all you really need to do is look good in pictures.

I dunno about that. Look back to returns when he grabs all of the different pieces... He had a shirt, and everything...

Re: Armour Vs Full suits
All of the movi suits were foam latex armor, glued to a bodysuit custom made for each actor. Batman in all 5 movies, Robin in both movies and even Batgirl had armor glued to a bodysuit. The full armor thing is good in theory, but movement is very restricted and with armor attached to the bodysuit, you can simply lift your cod piece and do what I do and simply sew on a zipper where the crotch area is, unsip, then cut the hole and bam, instand beer dispensing. :up
When the suit is painted to match the armor, it looks very V shaped and sleek. Rubber going all the way around, kind of looks alittle too boxy for me.

Re: Armour Vs Full suits
Its just in every picture I have ever seen of constructed Batsuits by people I cna always see where the armour meets the undersuit - especially the elbows. To me it just looks unsightly.
I mean look at this picture:

This is obviously how it is supposed to look and for me its the way I would want a suit to look.

Holy Crap Janty, you pee beer?!!!!
Stop drinking now bud, that aint healthy.
I think the trick with armour and undersuits is getting the undersuit to match the armour exactly. Once you've got that sorted it looks pretty good.
