Spandex Vs. Under Armour
:help
Okay...I need to hear from some of you more experienced Bats...
I can't decide if I should use spandex or Under Armor for my undersuit. I'm getting armor from Davidyr1 so I won't be gluing my armor to the suit. What, in your experience and opinions, are the pros and cons of each?
I've heard spandex can be pretty hot to wear (although I'm sure anything will be hot). From what I know of Under Armor, it is designed to keep you cooler when it's hot and warmer when it's cold.
I want all the exposed parts of my undersuit to be very form fitting and tight. I know they'll both do that but if you had to choose between the two, which one would you go with and why?
Thanks in advance for the help.
-Rob

Re: Undersuit: Spandex or Under Armor?
Under Armour is your choice. It can actually breathe. I have both a spandex suit and a Under Armour top and pants, and the Under Armour helps the most. The spandex is way to hot for me. I got all-season gear and it keeps me warm in the cold and cool in the heat. So my vote is with Under Armour.

Re: Undersuit: Spandex or Under Armor?
I don't know that anyone can really answer this, since it's a matter of personal preference for each.
I'll say this, though:as far as I know,I'm the only one that has used UnderArmour for an undersuit for a movie suit...whew! My Panther suit and '89 suit are both UnderArmour, and my upgraded '89 suit will be also.
My Returns suit originally was mounted on spandex, but I've upgraded to a copy of the real BodyGlove wetsuit used for the film....at least I think so.
So basically I've used all three.
The absolute coolest, most comfortable and formfitting is UnderArmour. The BodyGlove is great for accuracy, but hot :firemad
now to be clear, the Returns armor is a bit heavy and it made the spandex sag a little. Not much though, but a little. The BodyGlove is exactally that..a body glove and fits perfectly and does not sag with the armor. So with lighter armor,I'm sure spandex would be awesome....but I'm hooked on UnderArmour.
With it though,I have to give up a certain degree of accuracy. The '89 movie suit was one-piece and this is two piece. I'm ok with that because while wearing it and by all appearences, you would never know.
Anyway,it's really up to you. You'll probably get alot of mixed opinions...which is good. You can choose the best for you that way.

Cool. Thanks, John. Thanks, Chris.
John...I read your post in the archive section. I am leaning towards Under Armor, but just wanted to see what others thought.
Anybody else?

Re: Undersuit: Spandex or Under Armor?
I believe most folks order it online:
http://www.underarmour.com/ua2/ua/default.asp
I've heard some guys say they got something similar to Under Armor at Wal-Mart for quite a bit less, although not all Wal-Marts have black pants in that material. I'll bet some sporting goods stores might carry it. Anybody know for sure?

Re: Undersuit: Spandex or Under Armor?
I got my Under Armor at Sports Authority. Now, Wal Mart has their knock-off version of Under Armor called Athletic Works & it's the same stuff - only a lot cheaper. I picked up the long-sleeved tops for $12 each, where the Under Armor is at least twice that (just for the top). The Only problem with the Wal Mart stuff is that I can't find the leggings (pants). As I said, I have a set of Under Armor and the WM top & I can't tell the difference between them. Maybe the test will be when I mount the armor...

Re: Undersuit: Spandex or Under Armor?
Wal-Mart now has Danskin pants. You might want to check out the Ladies Dept and see if something might work there.
