Foam Chest Piece & Plasti Dip

I was at a local costume shop today, and I was looking at some new stuff they got in (picked up my ordered stuff anyways), and I saw this foam chest piece from the "deluxe" Batman costumes, except they weren't sewn on. As I was looking, I thought about something.

Could you take that piece, plasti-dip it in black, and would it work?

I was only wondering because I've never heard this one before. Let me know guys!

I think I recall Tim (CLTBat) doing that a few years back. If it wasn't you, Tim, sorry. But I know somebody did it and it turned out pretty good. Not sure if they used Plasti-dip though.

Thanks DevilInThePaleMoonlight, I was jsut thinking that it might work. I'm gonna ask Janty about it too. Maybe he can give some advice on it. More advice from fellow brothers works too. :toocool

Ya know, it is a real shame that DC and WB doesn't get off it's lazy butt and start licencing good products so some of the newbies can actually buy something half-way decent!!!

Come-on WB wake up and smell the green! :coffee

I thought about that exact thing a couple of months ago when I was brainstorming ways to do a decent suit on a budget.
I never bothered testing my theory though.

Someone did it a few years ago and it looked ok. Wasn't anything spectacular, but still looked ok.

Ouch ! :beatup Thanks B

   :p

Jon has a good memory .... I did that a few years ago ... I have some pics somewhere , if I can find them I will post ...

I think I used about 4 cans of Plasti on it

The first thing I did was to try and coat it with latex .... didn't work at all for me and I pulled it off because it looked like crap then just layed the Plasti on thick but careful to avoid any runs .... if you could spray it with latex that might work but I tried to roll it on and wouldn't suggest it.

Here is the pic.... there isn't much you can do if the foam is creased but if it is smooth it looks ok..It beat the daylights out of the Morris chest I had before this one.. the fabric will soak up the first 5 or 6 coats and it will just seem stiff and dull... keep spraying and you will end up with a piece that is very much like latex
