In my cowl, which is Janty's, it's like being in a seashell. You hear EVERYTHING all at once... but muffled.

Things up close are strangely louder than normal, while the things that are farther away such as voices, traffic, etc. are mixed in with the up-close sounds. If you're at a distance to someone who's talking to you, you'd better try reading their lips. You can vaguely make it out, unless they're yelling.

It actually works well to keep your cowl on ALL the time, if you're married or living with a woman. It's very easy to purposely ignore them.

"Huh...? I can't hear you!" :lol

Go for the '89. For your first time it would be an easier sculpt since it's less refined and is open to flaws, where the Returns is pretty perfect...IMO

I understand what youre saying John, you can get away with flaws on an 89 cowl. I guess I will see how the mood takes me lol I would like to sculpt one of each at some point if i find I'm good enough lol PLus there are more pics of the 89 floating about too.

Dude.

I use 1 piece lycra bodysuits.

My Panther, Returns and Clooney cowls are a lot easier to hear with, because they are made of lighter material, so there isn't much rubber blocking the sound. My buddy, who makes the 89 cowls, makes em out of thicker latex then what I do. Not bad, I can hear pretty well, but I've always had good hearing.

KI think I would mount armor for display on a 1 piece suit but for wearing I would like a 2 piece suit. Another cowl question, if a cowl is made of foam latex rather than standard latex, would the hearing be improved? That is probably a dumb question but at least I will know the answer lol

Janty,
Would it be possible to do the new 89 cowl out of the lighter material you used for the Panther,Clooney?? What is that material?? I saw DT's Panther cowl just recently and when i saw i could not figure out what it was made of?(Nice suit Mike BTW) Mike said latex but it has a different feel and rinkle to it when worn. It looks more natural. Sorta like foam but way more durable. And it deffinitely lighter. Nice surface. I know from working with foam latex alot and its just not like that at all.
Janty??
Michael
