Functional Panther Buckle - Pics & Info
The cad toolpaths just came back today and the aluminum prototypes are under milling now. I was hoping to have this project brought home in time, but c'est la vie.
I made one of these out of urethane about a year ago, but always wanted to do the real deal.
the project was to turn my prototype pieces from this:

here is a cool picture that came from the first prototype too.
I ran into a couple of logistics problems, but they are all ironed out now.. but all of the tools have been designed and are ready for production.
The clips, backs and inner workings will all be made of anodized aluminum and will be 99% movie accurate in shape and size.
The front part of the buckle is urethane plastic and the belt is urethane rubber.
of course, because anodization is an electrical process to bond paint to metal, I can make them any color under the sun, but I will stick with either graphite or possibly lead infused graphite for a nice shine.
After the first one is finally assembled, I will need to find a way to recoup my material, milling and designing costs from them, so dont be surprised if you see one on ebay in the next month or so..just to put a bug in everyones ear.

jeff, my man! havent talked to you in forever, but I hope you are well.
I would like to thank rubies mass produced crap for where I am at today. If it werent for me buying their thinner than t-shirt material, poorly cast suit, I wouldnt have gotten so mad as to start trying to make my own suits and ended up where I am today.
Hey jeff.. whatever happened to that shell of a car you used to have 'round the back of your place? did you ever do anything with it??
