Re: Returns boots tutorial - Can anyone help me? Blackwood Bat??
Hey Tristan,I'll throw somwthing together.
The only problem is it would have to be just in print since I don't have any progression shots. My computer got wiped clean a while back and lost all pics and info.
But I'll give it my best shot.
In the meantime, are there any specific questions you have?

Re: Returns boots tutorial - Can anyone help me? Blackwood Bat??
Hi John!
thanks for that!
Couple of Qs:
Does the armor actually get velcroed to the lengthened boot? If so, is it sturdy enough? Will is fall off?
Can the armor be permanently fixed to the boot and a zipper installed to the rear of the completed boot? (and possibly replace the laces on the boot and sew in an elastic piece to make it more friendly to slip on????)
Here's what I have to start my boot:
what do you think?

Re: Returns boots tutorial - Can anyone help me? Blackwood Bat??
I'll take a few pics later tonight and post them in this thread.
But here's the verbal: My boots lace up like the real ones. Velcro is attached to the front on either half, next to the laces, running up the boot. I cut thin, but strong sheet metal in the exact shape of the inside of the latex armor. I then glued these to the inside of the armor. Then, with the boot on,I shaped/formed the armor around my leg for a perfect fit. Then I attached the other half of the velcro to the sheet metal/inside armor. Once you have the boots laced up,the armor just fits right on there.
Make sense?

Ahhhhhh, that makes perfect sense!!
cheers dude!:up
Is the armor secure with the velcro?
If I were to wear the suit to a con, I'd be afraid that the armor could come off easily if it were attached with velcro....

Re: Returns boots tutorial - Can anyone help me? Blackwood Bat??
You all are doing it more ways than me. I am just gluing the stuff to the boots I have and calling it done. I know that is not right acording to the movie but it is all I need. I wish you well. Sounds like you have a good handle on it

Thanks Paul...you're the original inspiration!! :up
Tristan, yes the armor is secure. In fact, they're difficult to peel off....but in a good way :wink
Since they're very light and formed around your leg perfectly, you won't even feel them while you're wearing them.

What do you use to glue them to the sheet metal? Have you ever embedded the sheet metal all the way into the armor?

I used DAP,but I'm sure there's a stronger adhesive. I used what I had.
