I ordered mine from buycostumes.com and it turned out to be a gen 2 which is wierd because i made the order before anyone was talking about the two different cowls.

Re: How to beef up a Gen.2 Begins cowl
i was going to use the tutorial then thought about the method and it gave me an idea. I made a begins cowl that turned out too small and a bit rubbish looking, however the ears and face area were a good shape. So I cut off the ears from my homemade cowl and placed them in the gen 2 cowl, perfect fit. Next cut the back of my homemade cowl and placed it in the gen 2 cowl, once again a perfect fit just need to trim the mouth area to match. The homemade cowl was made of latex and it has really helped the gen 2 cowl keep its shape.

Re: How to beef up a Gen.2 Begins cowl
Maybe it's because I have a bigger head, but I went into doing this mod and ended up bailing, because the $5 plastic mask makes the face of the replica mask stick out far, especially from the eyes, and is rather uncomfortable, even with a small amount of padding. I had it on for 5 minutes in a test run and had red marks on my face for 20 when I took it off. And the extra foam padding didn't seem to do much but make the mask pull in odd directions, which doesn't help the fact tha tthe neck of the mask is already too short. Filling the ears and even nose with an air-drying modeling substance is a good idea, but unless you have a really small head, you may want to avoid this modification.. Just thought I'd share my experiences.

Re: How to beef up a Gen.2 Begins cowl
the hard mask is pressing up against my nose and cheeks as well-- and it pushes up and my nose is sticking out under the mask. I'm trying a couple things to fix it..
