Re: How to beef up a Gen.2 Begins cowl
Awesome Mike!...and The Brinmeister for the Idear...
even though i HATE the Begins stuff in all cases, this turned out really good, it kinda makes me wanna but the stuff and make one as well...but then i go back to, i hate Begins so...it's a bit of a Catch 22...i wonder if that shell would fit in any other cowl?...you know like one that looked cool! :lol
Good Job!
oh...and as far as seeing DT wearing that sucker...im guessing he is sporting the "goat" right now and plus there are no hot chicks standing around him for the pic! :p

HTrayne,
I have a 24" noggin and have mine padded up with the shell inside and it still fits well.
You sure you have the vinyle cowl, or the latex?

Re: How to beef up a Gen.2 Begins cowl
I have a couple of those shells for some projects I want to try. Wal-mart has them in the Halloween section of most stores and they are $1.88 or $2.88 can't remember.

Re: How to beef up a Gen.2 Begins cowl
I have a real difficult time gluing the plastic mask insert. I have the vinyl version and ive tried superglue, hotglue, and epoxy and none will hold. Am I just not holding it long enough?
Can you brush a thin layer of latex and have it stick to the vinyl so that you can P-D to the latex layer and have the P-D stick?

Re: How to beef up a Gen.2 Begins cowl
I had the same problem at first too man.....what you need to do is to wipe down the plastic shell with something like acetone and the inside of the cowl with rubbing alcohol.
What that does it removes any left over mold release from the factory and will give you a better/more clean surface to bond to.

Re: How to beef up a Gen.2 Begins cowl
I used the %99 isoproply alcohol on the inside of the mask. I'll try to wipe a little more with a generous amount this time. I'll also try to sand it a bit if it still poses a problem.
Batfra: I pretty sure it is vinyl. I got mine at party city and it fits the gen 2 description everyone has been posting of being pretty big and comes with a built in velco back. I got a decent pull, but the nose is crooked if I don't have the plastic insert mask. Im also gonna try to see if double stick tape will work around the eyes and nose area. Those areas tend to pop out a bit while I was trying it on hold it in place as I tried to glue it the first time.
