Residue on Flesh Cowl
Ok... so I got this killer flesh 89 cowl thats been sitting around in my collection and I pulled it out to look at it and admire it and woah!!! Odor and residue out the wazoo! :frown It smells pretty strong of whatever the flesh compound smells like... and it has a sticky/oily kind of feel to it that sticks to your hands a while after touching it.
Anyone know how to counter-act both these problems? I sure can't wear it if it's gonna be smellin like this :cookoo It'll mess with my brain cells, if you catch my drift :poke

Re: Flesh 89 Cowl Help
Put it on a headform and let it cure out for a few days. If it stays that way, I'm sure the guy you got it from will help you out.

Re: Flesh 89 Cowl Help
I too have one of the "Killer" flesh cowls and in my opinion its the Best :up
I've had mine on a headform since I've received it around mid November. It still smells a little bit but not as much as it did when I received it. I guess you can call it, "That New Cowl Smell"... :laugh
It noticed thatit leaves a smear-like mark if I rub a finger against it? I'm guessing I'm going to have to Armor All it prior to use?

Re: Flesh 89 Cowl Help
You might try using talum powder or baby powder it will dull the shine down to resemble the armor sheen more closely also it gets rid of the sticky feeling, It washes off if you dont like it. I used this method with mine and it worked fine for me.

Re: Flesh 89 Cowl Help
I actually threw mine in the sink & scrubed the heck out of it with soap & a sponge. It now has the nice movie accurate dull finish & I have not seen any residue ever since.

Re: Flesh 89 Cowl Help
The film on it is from the talk powder. That's used in shipping.
Wash the cowl as Zoid did (hey buddy) then armor all it....you wont have to worry about it any longer.
The material is always fully cured. It cant be demolded unless it is fully cured.
As for smell.....I dont recall there ever being any smell. Could have formed some humididy during shipping. But then again that's why there's talc on them...:)
Hope this helps.
