Attaching Cowl to Emblem to Chest Armor
Ok, so if I wanted to bolt my emblem to my cowl, and into my chest armor, I would need some way to take the bolts off when I was ready to take the cowl/cape off, so ideally, I would need a fist/emblem sized hole in my wetsuit to get in there, and take the bolts out, would anyone recommend doing this, or would you say just velcro/glue the emblem to the cowl, and velcro the cowl to the armor? If I did put a hole in my wetsuit, is there any way I could seal it so tha the hole didn't get any bigger? Thanks for the info. Take care!!!

P.S. If I did bolt the emblem to the cowl, to the armor, I know I would need a piece of padding there to keep the bolts off of my chest, I've got THAT part figured out... now I just need to get the important part figured out. :p Thanks again.

Personally, I've never used anything except Velcro.
Velcro is your friend.

Re: Could I cut a hole in the chest of my wetsuit???
Most guys use industrial strength velcro for stuff like this. Of course it also depends on whether your cowl has a symbol mount or or not to begin with lol I think the movie style bolt on system was quite complicated and I have never seen it fully explained.

Re: Could I cut a hole in the chest of my wetsuit???
Here's the way I understand it,so please experts,correct me if I'm wrong.
On the movie suits, the way everything bolted together was by using a fiberglass cape harness.
The harness is in between the undersuit and armor and has the oval which locks with the underside of the chest. The harness has the bolts already in it and it lines up with the holes on the oval.
Then the cape is put on and bolted to the harness, with the chest sandwiched between them. Then the cowl is put on and glued to the cape..then of course the emblem.
I believe this is how it was done. I don't want to give any bad info,so again if I'm wrong please let the corrections fly.
Either way,we don't need to do this,so velcro's the way to go.

Re: Could I cut a hole in the chest of my wetsuit???
I've always used velcro. And I've always run into the problem of not being able to turn my head at all. Of course when I've tried not adherring the mask to the cape and the symbol to the chest piece the symbol flips up anytime you flare the cape out.
Does anyone know of a way to correct this? Does anyone not use anything to keep the cowl down and if you do how to fix the symbol problem?

Re: Could I cut a hole in the chest of my wetsuit???
:huh John, I have no idea what you just said... :huh :p ANywho, THAT sounds far too complicated, but if there was a way for me to seal a hole in my wetsuit, and if I was SURE it wouldn't tear, or unravel, then I might just go with my initial idea... I believe the cowl I will be getting will have a symbol mount on it as well. I BELIEVE. Obviously I won't be cutting my wetsuit until I get my cowl, and line 'em all up... This may just work... I am also planning on gluing my cowl to my cape so it all stays put. Thanks for the info guys.

Re: Could I cut a hole in the chest of my wetsuit???
For my panther I glued the female ends of chicago screws to the back of the emblem. I then marked the chestpiece where the screw would hit WHILE WEARING THE CHESTPIECE AND COWL. I then made holes in the chestpiece and pushed the male ends through through the chestpiece from the inside and bolted the emblem.
I then ran a piece of fuzzy velcro across the chestpiece so that it was 1/4 under the emblem and 3/4 above. I then tightened the emblem down.
Next I attached the hooked velcro to the inside of the cowl where the curve is (cut to the curve) so that the cowl snugs down right to the emblem and stays put in the front.

Re: Could I cut a hole in the chest of my wetsuit???
for all practical purposes, i would not recommend using bolts to the batsuit IF you want to dress up all by yourself.
by the time you bolted the chest cowl and emblem, sweat would have tremendously build up inside the suit.
unless you have someone willing to assist you EVERYTIME you feel like dressing up as The Bat, then bolts might work.
Keaton had the luxury of having a battalion of Production Aassistants to take the suit on and off.
You, on the other hand, will dress up alone, most of the time... especially when you feel like it.
just use Industrial Velcro.
period.
