It's pretty normal, but it depends how tacky. It should stick to your finger when you pull it away, nor should it leave any residue.

yeah...that's exactly what it's doing....leaving no residue, but just feels a little cold and has a little "stick" to it...but no residue

Good job on that cowl reevz.

The vytaflex series is a bump up on the formula for the reoflex series which was also good. The only thing I wish is that they would have been able to expand it into an 80 or 90 but the chemist said 60 was as high as they could get it with out failure.

The only thing I find in working with the softer shores is that like with belts the surface tends to wear a little easier.

If the stuff is tacky on the backside you can still pull it but usually urethane sets up with memory for 3-4 days so if you pull it how you store it is how it might stay.

If you find that the inside surface stays tacky than its most likely from a reaction to the alcohol in the fresh silicone. Sometimes it helps to bake out your molds or wait a while for it to evaporate.

When I pour a cowl I just do a coat of straight vyta and hand roto it until it sets up than go in with two cabosil thickened coats. In between coats I turn the cowl upside down on a piece of card board so that the little excess doesn't pool up in the head. From that they are usually perfect.

Funny...

I've never attempted casting anything and don't really plan to, (no time or experience) but after all this time, I have no problem understanding everything you said. I had no idea I was picking all this up.

It's nice to know the process and just watch you rediculously talented nuts, make things happen. :)

This is how shows like "This Old House" or "The New Yankee Workshop" got started. There's a market for people who want to watch the construction of a house, without actually doing it or going through the headaches of dealing with it.

Hmmmmm... I can see it now... "Rubber Heros and Monsters" or maybe "The Latex Lair" or something to that effect. It would air on the Sci-Fi Channel and would create a whole new market towards the costuming/prosthetic/creature effects world.

A show for us. emoticon
