Plasti Dipping a Wetsuit
Ok guys, it has been a lot of work but here is where I am at. I have the 89 armor mounted to my Bodyglove diveskin 0.5mm and I have my cowl glued to my cape so its all one piece. This is the question I have to find the answer to in order to finish my suit. Can I spray plasti-dip directly on the wetsuit to finish the seams and to make it all one color or do I have to latex it first? I see both ways mentioned but I would like to just plasti-dip it if I can with out the brushing on latex first. I will post pics as soon as that part is completed. THanks a bunch guys..:) Also, I read that you just hang it on a hanger to spray the plasti-dip rather than wearing it. Is this correct? I dont want to end up not being able to get back into it..LOL

Re: Plasti-Dipping a wetsuit
From my experience, applying plasti-dip directly onto the wetsuit didn't work out.
It ended up cracking and looking lousy.

Re: Plasti-Dipping a wetsuit
All I can really tell you is that it would take a-lot of Plasti Dip to accomlish what you want. The neoprene will soak up and absorb a ton of it. I dont know how it would look once it dries on, or how well it flexes,or if it craks or whether it would make the suit shrink up some.... I was wondering about this myself. But after using Plasti to paint some latex, it takes quite a few coats to get a real good look.(at least for me.)

I will feel very sorry for you on HW. Expect to lose some weight with that wetsuit. Just don't go out dancing or you will die!

Re: Plasti-Dipping a wetsuit
Its a super thin diveskin only .5mm and it is colder than he** here on Halloween so I will be fine..:) I guess maybe I should look for some latex and latex it first before plasti-dip?

Re: Plasti-Dipping a wetsuit
I'm looking at doing the same thing. So the census is that I would need to apply latex before I apply plastidip to the rest of the suit? If so what kind of latex would I need and where would I get it? I was honestly hoping and planning on just spraying plastidip on to the suit while I was in it. After I apply my suit pieces what should my next step be?

Re: Plasti-Dipping a wetsuit
From what I have read the next step would be to apply latex, either by spraying it or putting it on with a foam brush so you dont leave brush marks. Apply the latex while wearing the suit. Then after that has cured and dried, then after that has dried skip the suit off, hang it on a hanger and apply light coats of plasti-dip. At least thats what I am understanding. Please speak up if anyone see's something wrong with my answer...:)

Re: Plasti-Dipping a wetsuit
Alright then this brings me to my next question. Then where do I get the latex and what kind of latex should I get? This isn't anything I would have to bake is it? Just let it sit and air dry while I'm in it right? Thanks in advance.

Re: Plasti-Dipping a wetsuit
Monster makers is where I believe that I was pointed. Get the latex that is Mask grade from what I remember. Maybe someone else has a better suggestion?

Re: Plasti-Dipping a wetsuit
Do you have a link of the kind of latex you recommend...??? Oh yeah, how much do you think would be required to give the suit a base to start applying the plastidip?
