Painting Urethane

I have a urethane belt that needs to be repainted. I've heard that Plasti-dip won't stick, so does anyone know what I should use?

Re: Painting Urethane

You only have one choice and thats to use a urethane based paint. Even then only a very fine coat can be sprayed over the belt. Once you lay it on heavy in multiple coats and let it dry it will crack the instant it bends. Also, you can totally forget about trying this if for instance your belt is yellow or gold and you want to paint it black. It never will work, unless the belt will be layed out and displayed. Depending on the base color of the urethane my suggestion is to visit your local auto parts retailer and try to find a "Urethane Bumper Touch Up Paint" and use that. From what i have found here in the USA, is that there isn't a very large selection of "Bumper" paints to choose from. Another suggestion you might want to try, but it can get expensive is to visit your local Auto body shop supply store and see if they can color match the urethane paint to your belt. Chances are they can but here again comes another expense. If you don't have a compressor and a spray gun to shoot the paint, the custom mixed urethane will be useless. When it comes to Urethane products you are very limited in what you can do with it unless the urethane is pre-colored before you cast it up.

Hope this helps !

HERE IS A PIC OF A SILVER/GRAY BELT THAT SOMEONE TRIED TO REPAINT BLACK USING URETHANE BUMPER PAINT.
