Just paint the surface of the mold with what ever powder you have be it atomized or mica and take a little compressed air, outside with a mask on of course, and blow the excess out so that its just a painted surface. Go ahead and lay that urethane or whatever into the mold and thats it, piece of cake. A better result by far is when you use a hard urethane and take clear acrylic paint and coat the outside. Once the paint has reached a tacky state go ahead and dust the piece. Repeat this several times and then take some steel wool and buff out the metal. Thats the best way to reap the true benefits of the powder. My friend likes to mix the powders and goes in with a blowtorch and other techniques to get some really wicked effects. Really cool.nondisclosed_email@example.com (cursedbat)Wed, 01 Sep 2004 21:53:33 +0000 Re: Urethanehttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1800306,from=rss#post1800306https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1800306,from=rss#post1800306I use various metallic powders for a lot of my urethane pieces, blue, silver, green, red, brass etc... when dusted into a silicone mold, the powder will stick to the urethane once it is cured. It also works with urethane quick cast resin and I have used it in latex. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Jants)Wed, 01 Sep 2004 20:24:26 +0000 Re: Urethanehttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1800305,from=rss#post1800305https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1800305,from=rss#post1800305Metal powder can be difficult to work with for first timers to acheive good results every time it but certainly adds a whole new dimension and a realistic metal look to belts and such if you get it right. You can add the metal flakes in the urethane itself or powder the mold or both. I was at my local plastic shop pickin up some supplies, and saw a dust that makes your urethane molds either gold or silver, depending on which you chose. I was wondering if any brothers had tried this before, and how did it work out for you? I also want to know if it was a shiny, metallic color, or the crappy, fake lookin spraypaint-ish color. Any thoughts? JJnondisclosed_email@example.com (BYWInsaniac)Wed, 01 Sep 2004 19:07:53 +0000
