I don't think you can do that. I could be wrong, but I don't think you can. If you're doing a cowl(that you made a resin copy of), I think you would need to make a silicone mold of the resin piece, then make a urethane copy, then your ultracal plaster mold of the urethane piece. I'm still a novice, just trying to help bro.

What are you molding? If it's got no undercuts and you use a release agent it should work. I cast a resin copy of a Hush emblem I did in UC30 and it worked fine.

I was curious myself of this. As a general rule, most solid items don't have an agent that could inhibit plaster setting, right?

UC30 will set up against almost anything (it will even set under water). I primed the resin copy and hot glued it into a box I made out of Elmer's foam board. Then I sprayed the release on the emblem and the box and poured the UC30. Just make sure that there is not a gap between whatever you are molding and the bottom of the mold or the UC30 will get behind it and you won't be able to get the resin copy out (found that out the hard way). Hope that helps.

Not sure if I would try to make a UC30 mold of a resin cowl. It will probably get locked in because there are bond to be undercuts in that cowl. UC30 should be OK for the urethane copy but not the resin copy. I used McLube 1725L release from Burman. Just sprayed a thin layer on and then buffed it smooth.
