Applications of Plasti Dip
I didn't want to hijack anyone's thread by asking this, so I'll ask in a separate one.
What all can plasti-dip be used on? Other than rubber, that is.
Can it be used on wood, so I can use it on my gauntlet spikes?
Can it be used on leather, so I can put yellow on a leather police belt or black on a pair of leather vambraces?
Just curious since I've never used it. Thanks!

Re: Applications of Plasti-dip
y'know that's good question.
I would say it could be used on both wood and leather. I can't see why not,but I've never tried it.
I think it could be used for wood steps for a non-slip type surface, but then, never tried it.
Depending on what you want to use it for on leather,it would probably work just fine.
Give it a shot with some scrap pieces of both.

Re: Applications of Plasti-dip
The more porous the surface, the better it sticks. An example would be when I used it on a pair of motorcycle gloves. Where it was suede, it's there forever, where it was smooth leather, I was able to peel it off. Although if it's too porous your probaly not going to get the finish you want. I used it on a Rubies Cloone cowl and it looked great, tryed it on a flesh cowl and not so great. I would think there are certain surfaces where the chemical mix would not be optimum, but that's for someone else on this board to answer.

Re: Applications of Plasti-dip
I tried it on wood and it works very nicely on the gauntlet fins. The wood grain seemed to suck some of it in and it kinda mimics the wood grain now, but a little less with every coat. With a couple more coats on each side I think they would look just like the urethane fins I've seen on here.
I haven't tried it on leather yet, as I haven't gotten the arm braces yet. I'm suspecting I won't even need to plasti-dip them because the finish on these fins is so close to what I'm expecting the leather finish to be, and also because it might peel right off anyway.
As a side note to a thread that I can't find anywhere now, where we were discussing where to get the plasti-dip and some people said they couldnt find it at Home Depot, well, I don't know what you were talking about... I found it right next to the Gorilla glue.

Re: Applications of Plasti-dip
It's not great on plastic as the shrinkage tends to make it tear. I tried it on an emblem once, but at least it was easy to remove.

Re: Applications of Plasti-dip
Every Home Depot I've ever been in carries Plasti-Dip in the brush on or "dip" cans, but not the spray cans. The only places I've been able to find it, like many others here, is at either Lowes or NAPA Auto Parts. I hope that HD has started carrying the spray, cuz I have one about 3 minutes from my house. The nearest Lowes is a 20 minute drive.

Re: Applications of Plasti-dip
The Home Depots near me have stopped carrying any of it. I buy the black from Lowes and the colored versions from NAPA. The Lowes stores near me usually have the red in stock too but none of the other colors.
I was waiting for some stuff to dry outside today and I remembered this thread so I sprayed some cardboard, granite, and a block of douglas fir with some black Plastidip. All three worked fine. Dunno if that helps you.

The spray cans are all I saw at HD, come to think of it.

Re: Applications of Plasti-dip
Mattman585's advice is good. And the reason Plasti-Dip doesn't bond onto "flesh" cowls is that they're urethane.

Re: Applications of Plasti-dip
Since we are on the topic of what plasti dip will stick to can I ask if anyone knows what can be used to give a nice finish on a eurathane cast panther belt?
