Improving a Cheap Vinyl Catsuit
And no, I don't mean the questions are cheap...:p
Question 2...does anyone have any experience with these "cheap" catsuits?
http://www.buycostumes.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=9765&PCatID=&ccatid=
The suit fits my wife perfectly, but she is afraid of the range of motion. She can squat down on one knee, but forget about bending over at the waist or knees....We are afraid if we're out some night in our suits (not fighting crime), and forget, that the suit could rip. Does the vinyl have any stretch properties at all? I'm getting a pair of pants made using basically the same type of material, and am also afraid of the ripping.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Have an elastic or spandex panel added to to inseam, where it won't show. You'll still have a close fit, plus alot more flexability & less noise.

I've seen some stretch type PVC like material...ask LemApp or BatDemon they both are complete encyclopedias of knowledge.

Re: Cheap vinyl catsuit question (not the squeaky question!)
I know that spandeoutfitters makes some extremely nice spandex suits from PVC spandex. It's a perfect match to latex, but the suit was about 3 times what we spent on this one. That may be a future investment...she wanted to make sure that she thought she looked ok in this one first:p...

The suit that is linked, from the ones that I have seen aren't bad. They are usually made out of a 2 way black PVC spandex. I know several girls who have purchased them and use them for Lara Croft stuff. They tend not to fit very well, so if you find one that fits pretty good, then that is great. Everyone I know has modified theirs to fit better. They don't stretch as much as the 4 way spandex and that should always be taken into account when getting into really dynamic poses which go against the stretch.

Re: Cheap vinyl catsuit question (not the squeaky question!)
My gal-pal who is investing heavily into Catwoman this year has been pricing out rubber/latex catsuits at $300+...is there any reason (beyond money) NOT to use one of these?

Which catwoman version is she doing?
I know several women who own latex catsuits... they are pretty durable for the most part. Price and fit are the biggest considerations. To be "right" they are better to be custom made to the wearer, it decreases the amount of wrinkles that you get in the latex. Latex can rip and I have seen it happen... but it is pretty rare

Re: Cheap vinyl catsuit question (not the squeaky question!)
we had a "cheap" vinyl catsuit lying around the shop. it was either uni-sex or made for a man, i wasn't impressed witht the quality. this one had minimal stretch and didn't fit well. some quality suits have 2, even 4 way stretch. problem with pvc is the material is laminated to the spandex, and spandex will stretch more than the pvc, giving runs if over stretched. if you're looking for an investment those aren't your answer. if it's just for halloween,, etc, they would be fine. test the material's stretch before you buy it. i just don't think they allow for much movement. my friend's wife has a couple latex catsuits. she tries them on before purchasing, as fit is not guaranteed by size.

Re: Cheap vinyl catsuit question (not the squeaky question!)
Thanks for the info guys...We feel a lot better about the suit now.
We only need to get the mask and the suit should be nearly complete. We got an underarmor "hood" today so she can wear it under the mask, to reduce on hair pulls, as well as giving her a place to keep her medium length hair while in the mask.
Another question that we thought of today was regarding the stitching on the suit itself. I know that the mask is molded with the stitching on it and painted white. However, as you could see from the above link...there is no stitching.
What is your opinion on the stitching? Is it what makes the costume, or is it the skin tight vinyl?
How would be the best way to put stitching in the suit if needed? We could just stitch it in for details, but I don't want to hurt the integrety of the suit (by making the vinyl weaker).
As always, your opinions and ideas are highly regarded.
