What to do if fire breaks out and safety tips about how to stop fires from starting. The police dept talks to kids about not talking to strangers and what to do if someone offers you a ride and stuff like this ( not to mention abstaianing from drugs). you could actuall read up on this stuff and talk about what ever you feel most comfortable with. At my regular appearances, I've done autograph signings and photo opportunties. I've also talked to the kids about safety issues.nondisclosed_email@example.com (BatmanEd)Sun, 22 Aug 2004 13:43:54 +0000 Re: APPEARANCEShttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1801831,from=rss#post1801831https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1801831,from=rss#post1801831Well, one good thing to do is keep eye contact, kneel down to the height of the child. Shake their hands. Ask them their name. Compliment them. Make the children feel like youre their best friend. I'm reminded of a panel from Superman: For all Seasons. While the Lexcorp Policemen were there to maintain the safety of the citizens, the citizens still loved Superman. Superman recognizes everyone as an individual, whereas the LexCorp police were generic and never cared enough. nondisclosed_email@example.com (The Escapist)Thu, 19 Aug 2004 21:09:16 +0000 Re: APPEARANCEShttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1801830,from=rss#post1801830https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1801830,from=rss#post1801830shadowbat69,  i used to do ghostbuster shows for childreen hopsitals when i was in va, haven done it in few years but once i get my batmobile done i want to start doing it agian, as others have siad the first thing u want to do is meet wtih the place u want to do ti at, check to see if its ok and ask about rules they have, get to meet the staff before u go it helps in the long run to let them know whats going on when. and as others have siad, some kids wont be shy and will ask u almost ever question they can think of, others will be very shy, its important to give them all = attention. some of the things ive done in the past is brought firefighters wtih me or police officers, after u make a speach to introduce them it helps to free up space around you so u dont have a buch of kids all around u asking u questions. if u ahve never gone out in any cosutme before its a little scary, but after u see the first kid face smile and light up with joy, it all becomes natural. youll do fine.nondisclosed_email@example.com (sg1star)Thu, 19 Aug 2004 19:01:56 +0000 Re: APPEARANCEShttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1801829,from=rss#post1801829https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1801829,from=rss#post1801829smile the look of the batsuit is scary enough so you need to show a positive feeling in front of people, especially kids. (and also coz you'll be on candid camera :lol )nondisclosed_email@example.com (jediweapon)Thu, 19 Aug 2004 14:32:07 +0000 Re: APPEARANCEShttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1801828,from=rss#post1801828https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1801828,from=rss#post1801828anyone else? please.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Shadowbat69)Thu, 19 Aug 2004 14:27:09 +0000 Re: APPEARANCEShttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1801827,from=rss#post1801827https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1801827,from=rss#post1801827Some typical things to know and do are: know your character well (you will be asked all sorts of questions. You are better off prepared)Remember...they are really going to question you "batman. Of course..become the character (act like whoever you are, just don't scare them :wink) Check with hospital staff as far as what their rules are and what you are allowed to do. Example if you want to give out freebies..some people make free giveaways (ex. a cerficate or signed picture). Well those are a few ideas for now. I am sure there will be more posted here for you.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Selina Kyle)Mon, 16 Aug 2004 18:49:13 +0000 What to do at Appearanceshttps://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1801826,from=rss#post1801826https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1801826,from=rss#post1801826i have read that some of you do appearances. my question is, what do you do at them? the reason for me asking is along with my bat costume, my brother has a pretty nice spider man costume. well, thanks to my mom, a friend of hers has the idea of coming to one of the hospitals for the kids. i'm all for this. however i have a feeling this could lead to more. so i would like some advice on what is done when you do these things. thanks in advance.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Shadowbat69)Mon, 16 Aug 2004 18:42:46 +0000
