Cost of Building a Costume

Not to be nosy, but an off-shoot of my last post (about the capes) made me wonder...how much does the average costume take to assemble? As I mentioned before, I've shot my costume money this year, and I think made a nice costume thus far for around $200 or less.

However, the really sweet suits and armor I've been looking at start at $200 and go up.

If at some point I decide to build a 89 Keaton style, what can I kind of expect to pay for it?

Ballpark guys...don't need it down to the nitty gritty :p

Thanks again

Without revealing sources, I can say what my components cost to give you an idea for an authentic '89 suit in elephants...

Cowl: 300
Belt: 250
Latex Cape: 600
Chest Armor: 350
Leg Armor: 200
Leather Gloves: 300
Emblem: 40-50
Nike Shoes: 75
Boot Spats and Armor: 200
Bodysuit: 90

That's a rough estimate from what I remember that got me here:

Guys, not to be a downer...but I'd like to jump in and remind you of the Terms of Service:

SELLING OF NON-LICENSED BATMAN ITEMS:
There will be NO public sales of non-licensed Bat related items, or web-links directly to sale pages posted on the BOTB.

If you have items that you want to part with, you should have NO PRICING EVER listed in the offer and no mention of monies being exchanged in their content, but should include an e-mail where people may contact you personally for details.

BOTB is a place where bat costuming fans can go to find out how to upgrade their personal costumes and collections, learn a little about molding and casting their own costume pieces, (if they are so inclined), and fellowship with like minded individuals. Not a virtual one stop batshop where you can pick up any piece "off the rack". Please try to keep this in mind, follow the guidelines listed above, and try to keep public selling off the board.

This thread and the discussions within it are treading dangerously close to breaking the part that says

Try to keep that in mind folks. we don't need a C&D slapped on the board by the WB.

Thanks.
