Re: on average...what did you suit cost to build?
I can't wait to get started on my suit. It'll be a while from now though.

Wow...you guys sure know how to spend cash. :lol I spent $200 and got a complete batsuit that was pretty damn good if I don't mind saying so myself.

Was it this one?
I've had this one since the 89 movie came out. The cowl is from Returns though. It got me through my early stages of costuming but it's time for an upgrade.

Hey Blackbat-
I respect your warning, but for the record I think I was very conscious of the policy here. I did not reveal where I got my stuff, and I am not selling anything either, I only approximated how many elephants it cost me to put my suit together so others trying to put theirs together would have an idea what it might cost them IF they found suppliers.

As with Jediweapon, 2k+, especially due to all the failed experiments in building a custom functional suit.

Agreed JV...but it wasn't necessarily directed at you, just a general reminder. :wink
We've got a lot of newer folks that aren't as aware of the Terms of Service as some of the older members, and again the thread was getting close.... so better safe than sorry.

Re: on average...what did you suit cost to build?
A quick tally shows me i've spent around $1500 on my cowl alone - not including what amounts to 400+ manhours of work and have exactly NOTHING to show for it.
YAY! thanks for bringing this up.....

Re: on average...what did you suit cost to build?
I do a lot of Star Wars costuming too and from what I've seen from doing my Jango Fett, Boba Fett, Stormtrooper, Robin, Batman, Captain Jack Sparrow, Bikerscout and any other suit I've ever done, my logic has been be prepared to spend around 1k for a really nice, quality suit. Sometimes I've gone over, sometimes I've gone under. But when approaching any new suit, that's the price range I usually expect it to be around.

Re: on average...what did you suit cost to build?
My brother and I spent $800 on the licenced Batman and Robin suits from Rubies. AND if big brother WB is listening THEY ARE CRAP ON A STICK!!!!
Now I am smarter. The new total will be probably in the $500-$1K range not including sweat equity.

Re: on average...what did you suit cost to build?
Having worked on putting together/making several costumes for both my wife and I, I have estimated that the average costume of high detail will run $500 plus. Can you spend less...for some costumes yes... but if you factor in everything... shoes, accessories, fabric, etc... pretending that you don't already own anything... your price will probably be higher. The prices start going up when you try being as accurate as you can be. So if an original item was made of leather and you make it in leather vs pleather...
Reproducing film and TV costumes seems to always cost more money due to the fact that many of the items are known as to what they were made from.
Comic and Animated reproductions have a lot more room for interpretation and there isn't always just the one way to do it right...
Tracy's Aphrodite IX costume was a good example of a comic costume brought to life:
Green wig: $70
Leather items: $50 plus time to make
Leather Skirt: $100
New Rock tall boots: $200
Leather boot covers: $200
Misc other items: $100
So..there you have it, over $700 just like that.
