Re: on average...what did you suit cost to build?
I added up the material costs for one of my high-end suits, and I came up with close to 9K. These are foam injected suits done on bodycasts. So this includes materials for the bodycasts, molds, cape materials(about 1K). I make my own gloves, etc. included are all the throw away items, such as mixing containers, disp. gloves, etc. it takes me almost a month to put a suit together from start to finish if I push it. I also have foam pieces that cover zippers that key into adjoining areas, and cape rig which is a fiberglass plate that follows the contour of the chest where the cape screws into, then the harness thingy underneath it all. The harness displaces the tension caused by the weight of the cape. Then when the cowl is on, it all looks tightly put together, cowl looks like it is coming out from underneath the emblem.
the undersuit I make from scratch using a special material I found that looks identical to the foam, I want the non-foam areas to look just like the foam, rather than seeing a difference in materials.
everything on my suit is scratch built by me, and it's all made so that one piece fits to the next, etc.. I make these for me alone.

Re: on average...what did you suit cost to build?
see told ya the foam route is exspensive
when you extend so much effort into making something that detailed you have no energy left to make them for anyone else
LOL!
werent the spidey suits like 12k a piece when the studio ran off like 20 of them
and look how simple a suit that is compared to a multi-layers caped wonder
the spidey suits are espensive due to the foam involved and all the hidden seeming
but you see guys make them for about 1000 all the time and they look really good
its all about the love and effort you put forward and what will make you happy with the end result
most important thing is just to get started
the rest falls in line

Re: on average...what did you suit cost to build?
Wait. I remember somebody in this thread post a message where they listed the prices as "elephants." What do you mean by "elephants?" I think somebody might have told me before, but I completely forgot. :banghead
EDIT: Forgot the part where I said I don't know what "elephants" means.

I believe the Spidey suits were 50,000 each but that included research and development also.

Re: on average...what did you suit cost to build?
I believe I spent around $1200 over the course of 2 years to make a "prototype" suit just to learn how to work with the materials, and finishing a Returns suit.
