BTAS Costume
I am kind of new here and just looking at some of the pictures of your custom made costumes made me want to build my own. I am trying to make the Bat suit from the animated series titled: The New Batman Adventures. The suit is the black and gray one, not the blue and gray one.
I don't know how to make it or what materials to use. I want to make it as accurate as possible.
Can anyone help me?

Re: HOW TO MAKE A SPECIFIC BATMAN COSTUME?
well, the pic didnt come up. but im assuming ur gonna go for the comic style. if so, zyflex.com is a great plc for the grey spandex top and bottoms. cape cowl and belt can come frm many different sources. ebay is a good place to look. hope this helped.

Re: HOW TO MAKE A SPECIFIC BATMAN COSTUME?
i've been told www.spandexman.com has some good spandex. They have a batman costume on there, but if you don't like the symbol, you can get it without. You can also buy a top and bottom seperate, like the comics. Then just put your own symbol on.
www.spandexoutfitters.com i was linked too also. But the prices are kinda high, i havent shoped from either. But i thought i'd throw them out there as options for yea. I have seen a good batman costume made, from using spandex from "spandexman", but the guy who made the costume only bought the spandex from there, and put his own batman symbol on it himself.
Hope it helps! :signal

Re: HOW TO MAKE THE ANIMATED SERIES BATMAN COSTUME?
I would warn you before you go onto spandexman's website, he's not exactly into spandex for the dress up part, and the pictures may frighten you. :beatup

Re: HOW TO MAKE THE ANIMATED SERIES BATMAN COSTUME?
I have a grey suit from Spandexman. And, while, yes, the pictures may be a little disturbing, I have to say that it is a very nice, well-made suit. However, I'm thinking about switching to the Zyflex for the classic look because the one from Spandexman is pretty shiny. I'm wanting to get something with less sheen to it - more along the lines of the Dead End look. Zyflex seems to be getting real popular around here...

Re: HOW TO MAKE THE ANIMATED SERIES BATMAN COSTUME?
I did a JL suit a bit back. The cowls are close to the same thing.
I did my own cowl, belt and gloves.
I used a generic front piece from Paul (Artsee). I can understand going with the cooler spandex route though.
BTW, that's DT's cave, not mine.

Re: HOW TO MAKE THE ANIMATED SERIES BATMAN COSTUME?
Hey. I'm making the same suit as you, so if you ever want to talk about ideas, IM me.
Here's some suggestions:
I'm using the Returns Commemorative cowl for my TNBA suit, being as it's the one licenced cowl that mostly resembles the look of the series. Of course, with some modifications, it could look a lot more accurate. I got mine at Eastern Coast Costume for a REALLY good price.
Also for the belt, I'm using the pouches from the comic-style Rubies belt, repainting them, and attaching them to a stronger belt, along with a buckle that looks like the one in the series. You can get this at stores like Party City. Hope that helps :up

Re: HOW TO MAKE THE ANIMATED SERIES BATMAN COSTUME?
I am also thinking about setting up an Animated Series costume, actually though, I might do Batman from the Justice League tv show, specifically a Justice Lord Suit.
The guys on here are right, the best way for a comic style one seems to be a spandex suit. If you were in a real hurry, u could always go with a suit from the Rubies company, which is pretty good, I have one, and not only was it cheap but it also looks like the one from the show.
I'd love to figure out how to make a suit where the chest piece looks similar to the way it does on the show though, it only has a few lines on the chest to distinguish the muscles, and that gives it a real slick look.
Try to do a suit with spandex and attach the bat symbol with a foamie or airbrush. keep us updated
BelmontBat that suit is awesome, and your cowl is dead-on.

Re: HOW TO MAKE THE ANIMATED SERIES BATMAN COSTUME?
There are other materials you can go with besides spandex. Something textured, with some stretch to it will give you a better look than spandex overall. Try to avoid shiney fabrics, stick to darker greys or dye the fabric for your suit.
