Most likely a stretched 84-86 Vette. I will be enlongating the front of the chassis and moving the engine back with new mounts. That way I don't need to extend the drive shaft and in effect better balance the car with the engine more in the middle. New steering will have to be fabricated but the front suspension should all stay the same. Once I have the fiberglass shell I will be putting on a round or square tube frame onto the chassis to attach the shell to. I will have to fabricate mounts on the inside of the fiberglass shell to connect to the tube frame. I'm starting as soon as it gets a little warmer out (up here in the great white north Toronto) I'll be sure to post progress pics of it. I am building it in my garage. So the first step is building a 2x4 bottom frame that is attached to casters so I can roll it around to work on it in, or out of the garage. Hopefully I can make it as detailed as possible with some replica pop up machine guns too :dancespot nondisclosed_email@example.com (BRCEWANE)Sat, 19 Feb 2005 21:09:11 +0000 Re: How do you make a Batmobile?https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1804188,from=rss#post1804188https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1804188,from=rss#post1804188So once you get the fiberglass pieces, how are you attaching them to the car? And are you putting it ontop of a stripped car frame or ontop of the car with its shell (sorry, dont know the technical name for the metal outside)? nondisclosed_email@example.com (BYWInsaniac)Sat, 19 Feb 2005 18:44:15 +0000 Re: How do you make a Batmobile?https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1804187,from=rss#post1804187https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1804187,from=rss#post1804187I understand exactally what you're doing. Very cool. As I was reading it,I built it already in my head and it worked. :lol John :flapbat nondisclosed_email@example.com (Blackwood Bat)Sat, 19 Feb 2005 16:47:22 +0000 Re: How do you make a Batmobile?https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1804186,from=rss#post1804186https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1804186,from=rss#post1804186That's some nice work there my friend. Starting off with a plywood rib type structure and then using some perferated posterboard (hard to explain what it is) to make the general shape. Then I am using Polyester felt to stretch over the frame to give the curves and soak the felt with Resin. Then re-inforce it with a fiberglass matt/resin. Once it is all shaped, sanded, bondo'd, I will be cutting it into its 3 pieces (rear, rear hatch, front hatch, front) and then cutting out the ribing from inside and then doing some more layers of fiberglass on the inside. Here are some of my smaller fiberglass projects. Learned a lot of stuff from trial and error with these ones. nondisclosed_email@example.com (BRCEWANE)Sat, 19 Feb 2005 11:48:33 +0000 Re: How do you make a Batmobile?https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1804184,from=rss#post1804184https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1804184,from=rss#post1804184Quote:How do you make a Batmobile? You need a base car to start with and strip it to thew frame. Other than Mark Towle,I'm a little out of the loop as far as exactally who,but they're out there. Same with '66 cars. Or you can do what Bob D. and Bobby C. are doing and totally scratch build one from the ground up. :wink John :flapbat nondisclosed_email@example.com (Blackwood Bat)Fri, 18 Feb 2005 15:36:22 +0000 Re: How do you make a Batmobile?https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1804176,from=rss#post1804176https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1804176,from=rss#post1804176http://www.chickslovethecar.com/ nondisclosed_email@example.com (AlienFilms)Fri, 18 Feb 2005 11:35:03 +0000 How Do You Make a Batmobile?https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1804175,from=rss#post1804175https://bbrotherhoodofthebat.runboard.com/p1804175,from=rss#post1804175I have seen that some people have made their own Batmobiles.
