Batmobile Replica Information

I am new here, but I have a been a batman fan since I was a kid, i have checked out a lot of sites about replicars, i would like to build a 89 keaton replica, i have seen plenty of the 60 seris west cars for sale which are cool but you gotta love the keaton car, so here are my questions, does any one make a standard bolt on type kit car, kinda like the lambo/fiero kits, i would like to use my 95 mark VIII for a donar if I could, does anyone have a batmobile? if so post your pics. also I want to see your guys bat suits and info on how you did em and links to all the places you bought stuff from, i got my suit started ,i found a costume place that has a pretty cool rubber one for about 300 bucks...OUCH! anyway i got the rubber mask, the costume , boots, utility belt, mechanix gloves, but I would like a keaton style suit, for next halloween. any help is appreciated! :signal

Re: batmobile replica questions

Welcome to the cave.

Some people have Keaton cars, but they usually keep it low key because of WB. I doubt anyone will post pics.
Next month the patent is up and I believe there will more cars shown and at least 2 people I heard of that will offer them as both a kit and fully built.

I know Justin has his own Batmobile Website, but Like they said, everyone keeps it low key because of the Patent. Will it be renewed? Doesn't look like they will.. Could they? Sure they just released some Hotwheels batmobiles, which would prove they are still using it. Do a search on yahoo, Im not on my computer but it should be www.1989batmobile.com Ill post later if you cant find it. Anyways like you said we are all fans here, and I personally cant wait to make a batmobile

Re: batmobile replica questions

I don't think the patent will be renewed, but I'm no legal expert. Supposedly, early Nov. it's done.
There is in fact a red 1:25 model Keaton-mobile that was done by my friend Tony. :wink

As for selling batsuits, there are no sales of unlicensed bat stuff on the board. Members may have parts from their collection they're willing to part with and trade from time to time, but all of this is handled off the board.
Get to know some people and hang around for a while and see how things work, and you could be on your way to making your very own Batsuit.
When you get a minute, please go over the Terms of Service(rules) for a better understanding of the crap I just spewed out. :wink

about 5 or 6 months ago I think It was in the dupont registry, where I saw a full page ad of a keaton car for sale actually through WB,it eas one of the cars in returns if i remember right.and i think the asking price was 75k, does anyone know who bought the car or is it still for sale?, I believe they said in the ad the car was functional, but b=not street legal, and that WB can still tell you what to do with it even after you buy it?! does anyone know bout this car? :batman

That car was NOT screen used in any film.
It was built by Jay Orberg. You could not have it in public or be seen in public with it,plus a whole laundry list of dos and don'ts associated with it. Bottom line,it's their car and not your's,even though you paid for it.
There are people on here that know much more than myself, but that's the basics.
It's possible that's the car David Copperfield won in an auction, along with a supposedly screen used full '89 Batsuit.
I think he sued over that, but I'm not sure of the outcome.

Re: batmobile replica questions

There was an auction by i believe Kraus that had 2 or 3 of the 89/Returns cars around april. they said WB had to pre-approve the bidders and anyone the won had to comply with WB's terms before the car would be delivered. I think it consisted of haveing to put it in so many car shows per year. or something to that effect. I think I still have the magazine the ad was in Ill see if I can dig it up. The starting bid i think was 75K. I tell you if i spent 75K on a car I don't care if what WB had to say I would set that SOM BEEOTCH! in my front yard and be seen with it. after all "It's the car, chicks dig the car"
