Re: batmobile replica questions
People have already given the Batmobile a new name to avoid any repurcussions. The common name given is Gotham Cruiser.. not to shabby, I really couldn't think of anything else.. anyways to avoid people saying "Well the word Gotham Comes directly from Batman" thats actually not true back in 1807-1808 Gotham City was refered as New York City. The nickname was popularized by Washington Irving and others in Salmagundi, a series of satirical sketches. Like John Said either way, as soon as that patent runs out next month a bunch of people are jumping on the bandwagon.. and as you can see alot of people are interested what they can do.. I know as a police officer I will be selling my Saleen to pick one of those babies up! lol

Re: batmobile replica questions
John,
You are right indeed. You could have a street legal "Gotham Cruiser" and WB couldn't touch you after the patent runs its course but like you said, you can't call it the Batmobile.
QUESTION FOR KEVIN:
You said that '89 kits would not be in the same price range as the 60's kit but how much cheaper are we talking here if the 60's kit is going for about $70K? I would like to read your thoughts on this.

Re: batmobile replica questions
You can get a '66 KIT for under $6,000 and built it yourself for between $15,000-$20,000....maybe alot less.
$30,000-$65,000 is the going rate for a fully built turn-key....depending on who builds it and who you trust.
These cars are obtainable to a person of average income.

Re: batmobile replica questions
Thanks John.
I guess the main question at hand is if the '89 kit will be available in the do-it-yourself kit or only by complete turn key kit.

Re: batmobile replica questions
Just the Kit can range anywhere from 10grand to 15 grand depending upon what accessories come with the vehicle. A full build would be around 70 grand, depending upon who builds it. Normally these are just kits you would have to supply your frame and drive line.
In my previous post the basic facts on patents came directly from the US Patent office. Some additions were made to clarify. There still are copyrights in effect as in Batman, Batmobile and so on. If the car is built just for your enjoyment and used in car shows for non-profit, you are fine once you misrepresent the vehicle and make a profit from it. Then WB can and will go after you.
