1989 Batmobile (Purchasing a Kit)
Does anyone know a website, that I could purchase a car kit for building a 1989 Batmobile. I'm not talking a model car either. Thanks. Email me if you know.

Re: 1989 Batmobile
At this time noone is liscenced to manufacture or sell that car. The only official copies are the six flags and onstar cars. This will hopefully change soon as the copyright may be running out.

Re: 1989 Batmobile
How long does it take for the copyright to run out? For some reason I thought that time period was way longer than 15 years...

Re: 1989 Batmobile
I always thought it was from death of the copyright application plus 50 years.

Re: 1989 Batmobile
supposedly the copyright was to be up within the year, but since hotwheels just released the 1:18 last year it may have been re-newed.

Re: 1989 Batmobile
I believe the patent ends early this Nov. and they can't renew it and I think there are a few builders out there who will be offering them. :wink
There's a few that have them now,but it's very illegal to own,so most keep it on the down low.
Keep your eyes peeled in the near future.

Re: 1989 Batmobile
i'm not a patent lawyer, but i could always ask. it do know that disney has renewed what ever they have on their characters: copyright, trademark, what ever. the easist way to find out is to call the patent office in d.c.

Re: 1989 Batmobile
I really hope that the patent does expire this year. I'd really like to own a replica without having to look over my shoulder for the heat coming around the corner. I've said it before and I'll say it again...The 1989 Batmobile is the coolest car ever. - Jason M

Re: 1989 Batmobile
I believe KCGBatman can acquire fibreglass "shells", taken from the movie moulds, to turn existing cars into the '89 Batmobile.
