Re: My own '89 Batarang(NEW PICS PAGE 2)
Thanks guys :) It's gonna be a week or two before I finish it and get it all painted, but its gonna look sweet. I have to putty it up a bit more before I paint it.
One other thing about it that could be better was that its not perfectly symmetrical, even though I used Blackwood Bat's photo as a sawing template. For some reason the left wing is a couple millimeters longer from the center to the wingtip than the right wing. Even though it was a small difference I had to do the measurements differently for that side. If you look closely you can see the 2 inner big white ridges don't exactly come up to the exact same height on the ears or on the tail. That's because of the difference in the wings.
A minor nitpick, I guess, but it's all about attention to detail, right?

Re: My own '89 Batarang(NEW PICS PAGE 2)
Yeah, I noticed that too about the imperfection of the design shape. I didn't want to rag on anyone though. Maybe the actual rang in the film was made that way, or maybe the scan and pics are from an angle or something. :huh

Re: My own '89 Batarang(NEW PICS PAGE 2)
Very nice looking piece there. I like the way you incorporated the metal blades at the end - very nice touch.
Does anyone have an actual, dimensioned template for these '89 rangs? If so, I'd like to get one. If one does not exist, and if someone knows the actual correct dimensions, send them to me and I'll draw a perfectly clean one up in AutoCAD & post it here for everyone to use. I did that with the '89 forearm guards & it seemed to be useful to several folks, so I'll do it with the rangs & other armor pieces as I get the measurements.

Re: My own '89 Batarang(NEW PICS PAGE 2)
I believe on page 9 or 10, of this board, there's a thread by Blackwood Bat with a scan of one of his '89 batarangs. If you double the scale of the photo and print it it becomes an accurate template for the rang. It should be about 8.25" from wingtip to wingtip.
That's what I used.
